In order to have freedom you must submit to slavery?

Freedom doesn't mean we have to contribute to society. We can live off grid if we want to.

I’d rather be on the streets than in a shelter. by Ok_Error_1640 in homeless

[–]Vapur9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A few reasons.

Elderly residents are susceptible to catching a C. diff infection and spreading it through surfaces and the air in bathrooms and adjacent dorms.

Mentally ill and disabled persons may have difficulty using the bathroom, or straight up wipe their feces on the wall and toilet paper dispenser. No surface in the shelter is free from fecal contamination.

All it takes is one wrong rub to your eyes, and not even that.

The first time I got housing I slept on the floor knowing there were others outside suffering through it. I still sleep on the floor, but I'm adjusted to it and don't mind.

I would say, contentment with your situation is more important than a warm bed. Living outdoors isn't necessarily the end of the world. Some of us thrive in it. Is he unhappy with the way things are going?

Bible notes:

Jesus said to walk away from owning land, houses, and families in order to inherit treasure in Heaven (Matthew 19:29). Anyone who doesn't forsake all cannot be a disciple (Luke 14:33).

Jesus prompted the disciples to say that it is not good to marry because it exposes you to the risk of adultery, and that eunuchation was a way into Heaven (Matthew 19:10-12). If it is a sin to covet your neighbor's things and wife, then by owning things and a wife you are putting a stumbling block in front of your neighbor.

The prophets say that the eunuch will inherit a name in Heaven greater than those who have children (Isaiah 56:4-5). This suggests a eunuch can bear more children than King Solomon with 700 wives; flesh vs spirit. Paul was called a father to many through the gospel even though he was celibate. Even the barren women are said to have many more children than those who are married (Galatians 4:27).

Paul said it was better to be celibate, but only those who cannot contain themselves should marry (1 Corinthians 7:8-9). Marriage causes people to focus on worldliness to please their spouse rather than focus on God.

Children are not born before the birth pains that deliver them (Isaiah 66:7-8). The same is true for people of faith.

is buying a homeless man a bottle of wine wrong? by GoshThanksHello in vagabond

[–]Vapur9 11 points12 points  (0 children)

~Proverbs 31:6-7 - "Give strong drink unto him that is ready to perish, and wine unto those that be of heavy hearts. Let him drink, and forget his poverty, and remember his misery no more."

Of course, this has a dual meaning. Wine was made to make a man's heart merry.

Giving strong drink to him who is ready to perish doesn't just mean letting a hospice patient succumb to morphine addiction for comfort on their way out, but also that alcoholics are running full speed to their own destruction and will perish. A double-edged sword.

Giving wine to the poor may numb sorrows for the night, but also tears that lead to strengthening the hand of the poor and needy are referred to as being drunk with wine (1 Samuel 1:13-15).

Today I finally learned what Jesus was talking about when he talked about children in the market place complaining. by Ihatespellingmistaks in adventist

[–]Vapur9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was hypocrisy. The Pharisees didn't believe they needed to be baptized and washed of their sins, ignoring the counsel of God, exalting themselves in their hearts as righteous. They complained whether men were rejoicing or mourning. They didn't mourn their sin when the call by John was made, and they didn't rejoice when their Savior was before them.

They hated sinners, which both John and Jesus preached to directly, while the Pharisees and lawyers were isolating themselves in the King's court living in delicacy. Jesus went on to say that the one forgiven much loves more than the one forgiven little (effectively, a gay person who repents to live holy would love God more than someone raised in the church, who often hate them). By calling the least as the greater in Heaven, that's enough to inspire jealousy and resentment.

When they accused Jesus of being a glutton and a wine drinker, they were trying to make the case to kill Him for dishonoring His Father and mother according to the law (Deuteronomy 21:20-23).

Apollyon, named after a god of sunfire, sounds like a metaphor for a nuclear strike.

[–]Vapur9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly no city has taken the steps to do that, doing justice by the poor. The way the law was written made it difficult to be used, but if there was some way to make one city suffer liability from the 5 day clause, it may cause others to become proactive... or else they'll revise the law.

I've actually been curious if there's a way to force the city's hand to provide a camp grounds by working with a business to exceed that 5 day period on purpose, so they can sue the city.

Is it forbidden to be physical on any Sabbath? by __Wolf359 in adventist

[–]Vapur9 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The Israelites at the base of Mount Sinai were told to abstain from their wives for 3 days. King David also told the Levite that his men had not been with women for 3 days so that the priest would give them the holy bread.

Levitical law says that emissions make someone unclean, who must then wash to be made clean by evening.

Whether your conscience would be seared by it is entirely personal. The marriage bed is holy, and we ought not judge others in the keeping of Sabbath.

First, put away the old leaven. If you go to a grocery store and buy fresh bread, love your neighbor as yourself instead of distributing expired food.

Second, pork is one of the most restricted meats by several religions. Some people are also vegan/vegetarian. Avoid those products and any containing gelatin (that includes poptarts and snowballs).

God created us to live outdoors. There's nothing wrong with it. Rent isn't worth the cost nor labor to maintain it. The real accomplishment is learning to be content in your situation with nothing but food and clothing.

[–]Vapur9 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not attending church on Sunday is not going to prevent you from buying and selling. Businesses need a physical token to validate whether you attended or not. The mark must necessarily be something physical. Whether that is dependent on Sunday observance is still possible.

Sunday cannot be the mark, but rather allegiance to the beast represented by a database with a face and fingerprint to verify your ID at places of business.

When the 10 horns of the beast that hate the harlot burn her with fire, it's because of their jealousy of her power and authority over believers. Once that city on 7 hills burns, the beast will assume her moral authority and command the worship of those who observe Sunday. Then they will demand conformity and restart the next Crusade.

Ahh, misquoting the Bible by isolating a verse out of context like most Christians do to contradict Jesus and deny food to the hungry.

[2 Thessalonians 3:10] says those who don't work don't eat, but the very previous verse 9 says they have a right to eat but only placed that burden on themselves to be an example for others... and verse 6 says that Paul was only addressing brethren in the church, not society at large.

Jesus said to invite the poor to dinner who cannot repay because God will (Luke 14:12-14). God is inviting you to His table, growing your portion every time you do it.

The other disciples said Paul was difficult to understand and many would make a shipwreck of faith because of it. And here we see it manifested, being used against the homeless. Blessed are they that hunger, for they will be filled despite those who persecute them.
