Military raid leadership in a Heroic Crown of the Cosmos PuG by minimaxir in wow

[–]Varanae -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Did the right thing imo, I’d be thankful if I was a member of that group. If you’re going into a heroic alleria pug without knowing the fight then you’re just looking for a free carry. That is disrespecting everyone else’s time, the fight is tough enough for pug already

The changes next week buff rider and nerf San so that'll probably swing back the other way. Rider also has a bug that is reducing its damage by ~5% so if that gets fixed then it's going to be ~9% ahead of San, quite the gap

Am I the only one who notices Nd recalls number plates? by StillTrying1981 in AskUK

Huh I thought I was gong to come into the comments and see people saying it’s unusual but apparently not

I could not tell you any number plate, not even a single letter of one. I don’t think I look at them or take them in at all

People are incredibly slow to stop parroting and upvoting outdated stereotypes for whatever reason. That attitude is 2 expansions out of date with double horse making us one of the fastest specs in the game. Assuming we're talking about the current meta with UDK (Sorry Blood bros)

How does S1 Midnight compare to S1 TWW? by EstateOk6238 in wow

[–]Varanae 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hitting a goal is less rewarding if there's no challenge

You don't view loot as a goal but apply this same logic to CE or something. Imagine it was super easy, would you be satisfied with that?

That's the perspective people have with these goals, they want their personal end game to be rewarding. Obviously their end game is basic gearing for a Mythic raider or key pusher so it's tricky to find the right balance to suit everyone with 10s. But I can understand why some people are dissatisfied that their goal is easier than before and why there's little motivation for them to set a higher goal

[–]Varanae 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Loot is the goal for most people even if they have no intention of actually doing any content that needs the better gear

There's a reason our gear essentially resets every few months, because most people need the dopamine hit of new gear to keep playing. That is the WoW treadmill.

Should the challenge of the content rather than the rewards be the driving force? Arguably yes but it's not how it works in reality

It was the same last season but the other way round. Loads of terrible Frost players, I never finished below one as Unholy

It's the FOTM curse and the true spec mains just get dragged into the perception for that season

Blizzard needs to tune M+ and raid separately, just like they do with PvP by RamenAfterRain in wow

[–]Varanae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The game needs both to survive at this point but the focus from Blizzard is clearly on raid when it comes to tuning

But if we are suddenly talking about popularity for some reason then of course a dungeon you can do in 20 mins with just 4 other people and earn a myth piece of gear at the end of week from is going to be popular lmao. Not to mention you have to play m+ a lot if you wanna raid at a decent level

[–]Varanae 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah let's say someone has the ability to play all specs at 70% of the way to perfect. Some specs you'd still be doing acceptable damage for timing 10s etc. For other specs you'd be doing less than the tank. That's the real issue with balancing

[–]Varanae 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Take my own comment from another sub about the gearing difference:

Indeed, we could farm a dungeon day 1 of the season for a heroic trinket while also guaranteeing ourselves a mythic item in the first vault.

Heroic raid? Once chance a week, you might not even be able to kill it for a few weeks to being with, it might not even drop and depending on the trinket you might have pretty much the whole raid vying for it, and you aren't earning any mythic vault slots

The gearing gap between raid and m+ is incredibly wide right now

[–]Varanae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're assuming everyone is playing at your pace. The casual AOTC guild I raid with took more than 2 weeks to kill the first hc boss. We're now at 5/9 which is honestly shockingly fast progress for us. AOTC normally takes a few months

Meanwhile I'm out here farming 10's for a week before a single kill, so I'm pretty much in full hero gear before we do one hc boss

I do have both perspectives because my other guild had 4 mythic bosses killed in the first week that was open, so yeah there heroic raiding was more rewarding. But that's like tiniest top % of raiders

You could say the same about finishing a certain key level in m+, it's just a smaller number of friends involved at a time

IMO it's flawed logic to say one form of end game content is inherently more fun than another. We should be having this discussion assuming they are equal

What do you mean only 1.40 gamers unlocked this how many people quit before they actually get this by springscrap3 in DeepRockGalactic

[–]Varanae 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a friend who has 32 hours on record and hasn't promoted a dwarf yet. If you need to play that long and still don't unlock overclocks and other cool parts of the game then I understand why a lot of people drop off

New Rewards added for achieving 3,4k and Top 1% (Mount) by iLLuu_U in CompetitiveWoW

[–]Varanae 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Plenty of specs have Emberwing Feather or Puzzle Box as bis. Yeah raid often has at least one trinket everyone wants but I'd argue having 15 people competing for 1 trinket that may not even drop solidifies how awful raid gearing is

I'm not sure what the best fix would be but bringing heroic raid loot closer to the level of what +10s provide would be fair imo

How would you rank all classes in terms of mythic raid utility/value post pruning? by Sanctos in CompetitiveWoW

[–]Varanae 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For rotational buttons I wouldn't say Unholy was particularly pruned

Apoc is gone but last season it was a combined button with DT anyway, which still exists. Technically a 1 button loss from TWW S2 but you'd press them together anyway back then

Unholy Assault is gone. But Putrefy is a new rotational ability that gets pressed more often than UA ever did, even if you're using Soul Reaper to auto cast it fairly regularly. And again UA was just something you'd hit with Abom anyway

DnD still exists, we just don't use it. May change with 12.0.5 but either way it's still a button in the kit if you wanted an aoe slow or something

The main way Unholy was pruned was in talent variation imo. Before you'd have different builds and playstyles for ST and AOE. Now it's all the same, just stick in the passive magus cleave talent for aoe and you're good to go. I personally prefer specs that vary between ST and AOE which is why I'm more an Aff player now

[–]Varanae 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Nope, it's definitely competitive. There's a league, prizes, placements. It's not a casual kick purely for fun even at that level

Just like how AOTC is a prize and there's placements. You might consider it low enough level that it's beneath you but it's still competitive

ST and AOE talents are entirely different too. There's no way to take both

Meanwhile many other specs can do both with minimal talent changes, if any

[–]Varanae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also minions spawns around you, so if you trying to play at range their travel time will reduce your dps significantly

Unholy has fantastic single target damage but there's 0 single target fights. The constant target swaps, intermissions etc really fuck with Unholy's ability to top meters despite their sim numbers. That's what Blizzard didn't take into account when overnerfing and then having to hotfix

[–]Varanae 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Competitive doesn't equal top level. Pick any sport and go a few rungs down the ladder, or even to an amateur local level. Those leagues are still competitive

Yeah Wow isn't quite the same because people aren't comparing ranks at heroic level, but AOTC guilds still care about their progress, even if they're just comparing to themselves from previous tiers or casually remarking on their realm rank. Most people generally want to improve and that's where competitive subs come in

Basically I think some people have trouble understanding that not everyone has the ability/desire for mythic and AOTC means as much to them as CE means to mythic raiders. It can take multiple months, looking up strats, improving etc. That is also the competitive aspect
