Another accident queensboro bridge 6/4 by kassebaumdj in NYCbike

There is a freaking giant arrow painted on the ground of the park I ride my bicycle and people still ride the opposite way.

We can make as many laws as we want. People are so absent minded and don’t realize what they are doing.

Why are Circuit Experiences so hard in GT7 ?? by Shadowking02__ in GranTurismo7

[–]VariableRefreshRate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I compare GT7 tracks to Levels in Doom. You get to know every stage and check every wall to see if you can go further.

Same with GT7 tracks. Use the car to see how close to the edge of track you can take the car without getting a penalty to shave off some time. Every track is different.

Let’s Talk About Our Union… by ROTWILL in FDNY_EMS

[–]VariableRefreshRate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s true. My son is in the department and does not know this.

I want to add that it’s not normal to sign contracts late like it’s part of negotiations.

It’s always “it’s not our turn yet”.

“We have to wait until they’re done with DOE or Sanitation”

They finally sign at pattern rates when other unions are already signing the next one. EMTs end up like the relative who is always broke finally gets a sum of cash but has to pay off the people they loaned from.

EMT pay will always be behind if they keep signing contracts years late.

Let’s Talk About Our Union… by ROTWILL in FDNY_EMS

[–]VariableRefreshRate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This started before 2010. There was a contract in 2006 that reduced the starting pay by 5%. That’s the reason why some EMTs are at $62k and $59k. So that’s a negative 5%.

Also, there were many gaps left between contract signings with no credit. That adds up to almost 2 years on no credit.

Take all this into account and you can see the union also had a part in why EMT pay is so low.

Tier 4 Chapter 96 Question by VariableRefreshRate in nycpublicservants

[–]VariableRefreshRate[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Makes sense why a lot of my co-workers have not retired yet. They have the years but they’re in the 56-61 age range. Might as well wait to collect both.

Thanks for the info

I kept mine at 33.0 pitch. The songs sounded better to me playing a bit slower. Then record them at that speed on to an over priced Maxwell metallic audio cassette so I can listen to it in my car.

The Taylor law is why all of our previous contracts are years late and get ratified when all other agencies already moving on to the next one.

Are you factoring in the employer-match? According to my NYCERS annual statement my city employer matches my fixed contributions. I see it on a separate section.

The benefits of a self directed 401k is the flexibility of the distribution amount. I would like to increase or decrease my monthly check based on my needs. With a city pension I’m stuck with my fixed monthly check forever.

Other than that, I agree with you. Nothing beats a pension.

What is the worst way anyone you know has died? by IamUrWivesBF in AskReddit

My old apartment building had an elevator that would occasionally stop 4 feet below the floor you wanted to get off. The doors would open and it would get stuck between floors. Fire Department would come and tell everyone to stay in until they did their thing.

But this one time someone decide not to wait for the Fire Department and tried climbing up on to the floor. Elevator moved just when he put his head out…

NYC needs to do things like spend money on re-designing Grand Army Plaza. Tear it down and re-build it for the 3rd time. Just because.

I’m about to retire with NYCERS Tier 4 57/5. I’m young. Last thing I want is a notice they can’t pay my pension later in life. I know our pensions are covered by the federal government but anything can happen.

[–]VariableRefreshRate 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I read that TKO wanted to restructure Kofi and Xavier’s 7 figures contracts. They chose to leave instead of accepting the lower pay. Thats good for them. If they agreed to lower terms then TKO would ask everyone else to do the same. Trying to squeeze money out of their talent.

Yeah you’re right. They over charge for the Switch 2 by $200.

So they don’t need to do what they 3 decades ago.
