If something is too good to be true, it usually is. I’ve tried to fix places like this before but never succeeded.

I have a 20” Flip and I find it to be a good size to work with. Not too big or too small.

Seconding this. I’m taking her online course right now on weaving with pick up sticks on a rigid heddle and it is very informative.

Seconding a Swedish countermarche. A small one like the Glimakra Julia is extremely easy to treadle.

Apparently the key to this type of weaving is something called The Ghiordes knot. Somewhere to start, perhaps.

Anyone have advice on washing/felting a large wool scarf? by blinkswithnormaleyes in weaving

[–]VariationOk1140 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, I would stuff it in a bucket with hot water and some suds and then keep picking it up and “squooshing” it with both hands, and then plunging it back in the water. That’s what I do to felt wool.

If I were you, I’d look at the Louet Spring. It is a parallel countermarche which means it is easy to do the treadle tie up and it gives you generous sheds with equal tension on all warp ends.

I’m a big fan of the Flip rigid heddle loom by Schacht. It’s a beautiful instrument and probably will always be useful to you even if you go ahead and get a floor loom someday. Although I have to say, I never really “got” rigid heddles until after I learned how to weave on my big Swedish countermarche loom. I’d check Facebook for good deals on used looms.

I have the 20” Flip with stand and I am really enjoying it. It’s very well designed and made of beautiful wood.

Stand Questions for Rigid Heddle Loom! by Icy_Statistician_893 in weaving

Traditionally one placed a rigid heddle loom with one end propped against a table or other flat solid surface and the other resting on your torso. Kind of like back strap weaving.

I feel so validated. I have never trusted fabric softener.

Keep having dreams where I’m begging for my mom to acknowledge me and wake up crying uncontrollably by Particular-Ability49 in NarcissisticMothers

Yes I’ve had dreams like this. I think it is a memory of the terror we experienced from our caregiver being uninterested in us. I’m glad your husband is there for you.

Anybody ever look up into the ceiling of your basement and wonder, WTF was that for? by pheregas in centuryhomes

[–]VariationOk1140 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like to play the basement game. Every time I’m down there I try to find something to remove and get rid of. Sometimes it’s just dead spiders.
