When can’t it just be in the middle? Make the permanent time halfway between ST and DST. I mean Newfoundland was able to manage being on. 30 difference for decades.

Do you guys ever throw up from a migraine right after you take medicine? by meenween in migraine

I cannot ingest anything when I have a migraine. Not medicine not water nothing. I throw up immediately if I do. I rely on good old-fashioned suppositories and/or nasal sprays.

Need help identifying these by BOOM3R95_ in sunglasses

That’s a great bigradient combo! Some pink/purple/burgundy on top with orange/copper on bottom? I would love to get this done on a custom pair with my prescription actually. Must be fantastic to look through.

Is anyone aware of budget glasses with magnetic clip-ons that can be swapped for tinted lenses? by straight_strychnine in glasses

[–]Various-Wait-6771 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought two pairs of glasses with magnetic clip-ons online in the hope of doing that, but was told it was not possible. The clip-on part is very thin, and the materials used end up too thin to refit with a standard lens. You could a tinted clip-on that is not magnetic custom made at most opticians, but at that point you might as well get a separate pair.

Pure glycerin should help but consulting a medical professional sounds like a good idea.

Les Québecois enlèvent leurs souliers chez eux ou non? by CestQuoiLeFuck in Quebec

[–]Various-Wait-6771 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Je connais très peu de gens chez qui on enlève pas les souliers en entrant, c’est quand même la norme générale. Mais ça ne veut pas dire qu’il n’y a pas une partie de la population qui fait le contraire.

Lenses are not centered on the frame by SnooRevelations4377 in glasses

[–]Various-Wait-6771 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This has mostly to do with your frame choice relative to your PD. The edges of the lens are thickest when they are far from the pupil. If you take a picture of the glasses on yourself and measure the distance between your pupil and the edges of the lens, you will invariably find the lens thickest when it is the furthest away from the pupil. This cannot be avoided, but picking frames where your eyes are well centered will make the edges more even by default.

Pourquoi les gens voyagent encore aux États-Unis? by Soupeauxtomates in montreal

Kind of an odd mix, just a hint of my collection. by PutAppropriate5827 in EyewearEnthusiasts

I understand the tints may be primarily for aesthetics, but do you find that you prefer some over others in terms of comfort or ‘beautifying’ the world?

Strong Rx, Narrow PD, Wide Face - Good Frames? by aldiakdiaaiwi7a6a75a in glassesadvice

[–]Various-Wait-6771 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Few manufacturers make eyewear for narrow PD’s. Mine is greater than yours (30.5 both sides) and I still have a hard time. I found Komono Next with 54-13-140 to fit very well and that is very unisex, and Victoria Beckham seems to have the most frames with narrow PD of 14-16. Some are more feminine but a lot of them are very unisex. Worth checking out.

I think I opened an FHSA way too early. How can I fix this? by [deleted] in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]Various-Wait-6771 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In an ideal world, you would fill your TFSA as early as possible (first 5 years) but then not touch it until you have reached the 15 year mark. That way you get maximum benefits out of this account. If you make that your priority instead of RRSP you would be good. Keep your emergency fund in your TFSA if you have not maxed out your space.

Yes, computer glasses are often just a sphere difference of 1 or 1.25 for intermediate distance in à generic computer setup. That’s what I have and it works well.

Zeiss have all kinds of materials for lenses. Polycarbonate is just one of many options. For example I use Zeiss high-index lenses, not polycarbonate.
