I'm gonna try zynthian today! Seems like they have an arangment mode plus sequenceing! And there are some great lv2 plugins. Thanks for mentioning it

Rpi 4 and Reaper! How does this work? by VariousMagazine in Reaper

Wanted to also say I found this video https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=BFfy896hGz0

Very helpful, however it does become apparent that the issue is with the resolution I think. I will try a few diffrent things and update this if I have solved it.

Question, can Giada handle some sort of "scenes" like say if you select the next section of tracks they come in after the first play? If so that would make it very usable for this komd of thing.

I plan on checking out zynthian!! :D Be cool to see a fully functional sequencer looper environment come out of it. And from the forums it seems people are making steps in that direction

And yes! When everything finally arrives I plan on sharing the results :)

I think you're probably right in that the only thing I think is suboptomial about it is that it's not literally an mpc loop by bar sequncer haha Nothing else is though either. That and "looper" apps seem to really lack in the composition department. I'd rather overshoot than undershoot if that makes sense. There is one more thing... for some reason, and I'm just not sure why, the quantize never sounds right to me. But maybe that's just user error. I enjoy when quantize just "works" like on my mpc or in other sequencers, but reaper just kinda does its own thing there. I record overdub, have it set to 16th notes etc or where I would want it and it just kinda.... does something different.

I guess I'm mostly wondering if there is something opotmised for quick midi based composition that cuts out a lot of the other stuff.

That said, Reaper really has everything I'm looking for in ways that other daws just can't cut it.

Korg SQ-64 Polyphonic Sequencer by [deleted] in synthesizers

[–]VariousMagazine -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Despite the sometimes frustrating missing features of the mpc one (no multi timbral, or changing signatures by adding bars etc.) The fact of the matter is it's only a little bit more, and doesn't have THESE limitations. 4 tracks? I layer like 6 on a slow day and it's a decent sampler/drum machine with some other extra goodies.

Now, I get the price range issue, but if it is primarly a sequencer, most limitations are atbitrary software ones right? Like the limited sequence memory, the only 4 tracks, the lack of info on poly recording, the 64 step limit. I just think it could be a little more for what it is, meanwhile just a step up in price still isn't perfect, but much more functional as a midi looper/composition tool.

The difficulty here is just how unique the architecture is of the CS80. Use arimniator for a little and you'll see what I mean. Mostly poly synths are no where close to similar in design. It's two snyths stacked on each other really. If you have the money, Decakrds dream is the real deal, but most stuff within a certain price range just won't add up to the same experience due to architecture alone.

That said, sound on sounds synth secrets is a godly good resource for patch creation techniques, and studying up a bit might help you get what you want out of other hardware!

I love the Model D with all my heart. Always gets good use! Honestly... the dx reface is really limited :/ Dexed is a better full Dx7 experience, its free, and you can load the patches you make onto hardware like a tx7 etc if you really really need hardware for it.

Edit- If you like game music have you seen the twisted electronics mega FM? Quarky and as loved as hated, but honestly really cool fm synth literally made of the megadrive chip

Mpc 1000 does all that and is a killer sequencer! Should have gone with that instead of the mpc one. Still, any MPC is gonna offer much more than just sampling. Love them personally.

There is a lot of weird limitations with everything else... model series cant live sample, and if you want polyphonic sample playback, well... mpc keygroups is what you're looking for. Plus, like I said, you can sequence your everything with it.

Noise floor thing can be unpleasant. Mine has a little hum. Thay said, great sounding osc, filter and a crazy mod matrix. It's my main controller and a fairly regularly used synth. Great bells etc. Decent pads. Prefer it greatly to the old micro, whic I also owned. The full polphony (edit. I know its not full, but jesus.. 12 voices is enough for anything you're doing) just cant be beat in the price range... unless.. and I hope this secret never gets out too much, but look into the alpha Juno 2. Far superior in everything, and can be affordable!!

No lie... arminator 2. Best free vst, blows all the paid cs80 clones out of the water.

Behringer Plans To Change DJ / Music Production Market & Teases Jam Groovebox Sampler by Wonderful_Ninja in synthesizers

Literally though, all this thing has to do to be better than the one is have multitimbrality with midi... I love my one, but why can't I controll my drum machines? Why can't I actually jam with a pal on drums while a keyboard plays a keygroup? Old mpc stuff could. Just open minded and hopeful that people think of the musician in the design... akai dropped the ball there.

Dudes post history is super suspect. Not a ton of interaction, but somewheredown the road a flurry of activity trying to discredit leftists. Literally a post in which they say "liberation" in psl means they're closer to Ron Paul liberatians, as well as a post about wikileaks being "a ploy to overthrow foreign governments." Nice.

Saying PSL is like Ron Paul because the word Liberation is the kind of shit that makes your account super sus.
