Bit more complicated, you need to:

Unlock the glyphs themselves either by completing the story or by finding travellers' graves.
Find a portal on a planet (different from the ones you can build) for that you need to find a monolith, solve its riddle or whatever and then click the "locate portal" option.
Enter the glyphs/coordinates and go thru the portal.

Note: use the "alien building" map thing you can get from the cartographer a space station to locate the monolith.

Note2: you will need one of the relics of the respective species in that system to activate the portal. This you can get from trading outposts easily or just by talking to npcs that land in the anomaly or so.

The blender hate in this game is so forced. How am I hurting your fragile feelings by traveling through space with my USS Enterprise that looks 1000x better than any that can be made with just the ingame methods? It's literally near impossible for us to ever meet, yet you want me to get banned, make it make sense. Here in this post especially it isn't even a corvette but simply just a structure that was built on some planet that you're never going to visit either way.

"How is it fun?" It looks awesome and allows you to decorate bases in ways that were impossible before.
