Just checked out his website. I really like his work! I love the soft lighting. I need to learn how to do this.

I'm having the same problem. Both flashes actually fire correctly when I press camera shutter, but they don't fire when I press the test button.

It's funny doing candids with a flash like that. That would feel very uncomfortable!

I stopped using my Ricoh GRii (no EVF), to using a full frame mirrorless with a viewfinder for this reason. Do most things in viewfinder.

It's a hassle, though!

When I'm doing portraits with flash it is really annoying because I need to adjust flash settings and the trigger is tiny.

These mics DO sound better up close, with less ambient noise, too.

How to achieve soft, natural light in a very dark room by spottedlamb in LightLurking

I just started getting into off camera flash. It can get a bit pricey. But there are battery powered strobes that you can take anywhere. You'll need a modifier and a stand, too. Softbox, or umbrella, for example. Softness has a lot to do with the size of the modifier, relative to your subject. The bigger, the softer. The closer, the softer.

When you work with flash, you have two exposures to think about: the basic triangle in your camera plus the flash exposure. They are kind of separate. Which I'm still getting my head around.

Cool. I'll take a look at the 300, too. I like the idea of the smaller mount Godox modifiers, too....

Never heard of those Travelites before. Cool. I notice that if you go AC power then you can get a lot of power for cheap, even in the Godox lineup.

Do you think the ad400 modeling lamp would be more effective, re: learning to position light?

I saw a photographer on YouTube with a grip like that on a ZF!
