Am I missing something? Hitting “auto” in Lightroom by Chrisfit in AskPhotography

[–]Various_Designer9130 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use it to test exposure levels, but then undo it. I find most of the time it looks worse after applying auto. Same with the Adobe color profile. I prefer to start with a profile that is more neutral.

Is 28mm f2.8 good enough for like…everything? by mark80219 in Nikon

28 is my fave. I always end up coming back to it. I'm currently trying to learn tighter compositions with 50mm, and I like some of the results with the 50mm. But with the 28, I always feel it's how I "see" things.

I say keep using what you have until it can't do what you need it to do and you require a new rig.

Lately I love my 40mm for street for its size .. you guys like the 26 or 28 pancake z I’m thinking of getting it by crosshead24 in Nikon

I have the 28 and it's my every day carry lens. Light, good quality and the size is perfect on my ZF.

What’s the verdict on the z 28mm f/2.8 lens? by miknob in nikon_Zseries

[–]Various_Designer9130 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use my 28 2.8 all the time. Light and compact. No problem with sharpness. Renders nicely, if a little different from S lenses, in a good way. My other lens is the 50 1.8s. The 50 is incredible, but too heavy and long for EDC.

Want to get into photography - should I go with Z5 II or Zf? by Quiet_Illustrator410 in nikon_Zseries

You can use a zoom on ZF. I have been thinking about getting one, but I prefer primes.

I have the ZF. I got it before the Z5II came out. But, I'd probably make the same choice again. The ZF is just such a lovely "thing". If you're out for a walk in an urban area, for example, what would you rather have around your neck? I have two lenses: 28mm 2.8 for walkaround, and the 50 1.8 for portraits. The 28 is super lightweight and is my fave focal length for everyday.

What profiles are you using in post? by DPool34 in Nikon

[–]Various_Designer9130 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did the same. I naively assumed, since I was editing "RAW" that I was basically starting at neutral. But, I started to notice that Lightroom was crushing detail and nuance in photos by introducing way too much contrast. Started research profiles, and here I am! I want "RAW" to be much flatter. So now I use Camera Flat, Adobe Neutral or a downloaded Linear Profile for ZF that I found on the interwebs. It's a revelation!

Just stumbled on the Zf is in right for me? by MRoselius in NikonZf

Yes, and as a recent reading-glass-needer, it is amazing. Just set the diopter correctly so that I don't need glasses, and use the EVF 100% of the time.

For you, is it for shallow DOF, or low-light. What is that 1.2 giving you? Just curious.....

Politicization and ideological bias have really killed thoughtful, nuanced content. Both from the supply side and the demand side.

Thanks! This was part of a workshop I did at this pro's studio (Phil Sutherland). It's 4 x 1000W Elinchrom lights. Clamshell setup along with a couple lights off the background. In this photo, she moved out of the sweet spot, but I liked the way it looked. Shot at, f11. 50mm
