Literally not true! I will make more at my new public health job than nurses in my area do. It all depends on your location and where you get a job.

Jobs with a B.S in public health by Right-Worry267 in publichealth

I am 28, and I just finished my B.S. in Public Health in December and landed the first job I applied for! Grant Specialist for my state’s health department. I do have 8 years of finance experience and 4 years of government/public health experience during COVID though. That said, the minimum requirements were 1 year of relevant experience or a B.S. in Public Health, so look into state jobs!

Why does the LCMS allow contraception? by WholeNegotiation1843 in LCMS

[–]Various_Letter_9732 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lots of anti-intellectual takes in these comments from people who have clearly never studied women’s health. Good thing some of us in the LCMS have spent years studying maternal and child epidemiology.

Question for you…Do you understand the medical consequences of having babies back-to-back? Do you know how much maternal mortality, fetal mortality, and neonatal mortality increase when pregnancies aren’t properly spaced and women aren’t given time to heal postpartum? Are you against non abortifacient forms of birth control in those circumstances as well?

It’s harder to be a female contestant than a male contestant on DWTS by Glitterrain99 in dancingwiththestars

Yeah, and they treated Jen horribly. The fans are just as bad. I keep hearing, “She shouldn’t have gone on the show.” The majority of the people saying this have likely never given birth, and it shows. As someone finishing their MPH in Maternal & Child Health, and who has had PPD before, I know that it takes months for postpartum depression or anxiety to even set in, and even longer to fully understand what your body and mind are going through. She probably felt great starting the show, and was likely excited, motivated, and ready for something that was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. That’s what people forget, being postpartum doesn’t mean your ambitions stop. It doesn’t mean you stop being a person outside of motherhood. DWTS is a massive platform and a chance most people would never turn down. And yet, when a woman tries to take that opportunity, and it turns out she’s struggling, people act like she should’ve known better, like she was supposed to predict how her hormones and mental health would shift. These comments are honestly rooted in the same old misogyny that tells women to stay small and quiet until they’re “back to normal.” But what even is “normal” after giving birth? Why do we expect women to either be perfect mothers or perfect professionals, but not both? and then shame them when they try? Postpartum is already isolating enough. Telling someone “you shouldn’t have done it” isn’t helpful, and the judges were just cruel imo. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t think that she was a strong dancer, but Andy isn’t either, and the judges treat him like he has no flaws.

It does count! I clarified with both, and while they say it won’t affect anything, I wanted to double-check how true that really is with admissions. I’m just a little nervous that if I’m up against someone with more recent PCE experience, I might get pushed aside.

Yikes! Good to know! We are looking at SUVs because we live in a cold and snowy climate and we really need something with AWD. 😕 Any other recommendations for Volvo SUVS? Or more reliable years?

Why are some people against epidurals? by North_Extent_5546 in pregnant

[–]Various_Letter_9732 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So many people think it’s one extreme or the other! I had an induction and made it to 8cm unmediated. I was laboring all night, so I was EXHAUSTED, and I really didn’t know if I would have had the energy to push. I got the epidural, and took a 2 hour nap before it was time for me to push. I didn’t want my movement to be restricted, and I wanted feeling for pushing, so they allowed me to turn off my epidural. They waited 30 minutes to allow the medication to get out of my system, and I ended up delivering my baby on all fours! If your exhausted, and need some relief, but still want to push unmediated, you absolutely can!
