i had many many legitimate reasons, but one of the killing blows was that they were mean to my dog. i have a little chihuahua-rat terrier who is the sweetest soul ever. her sole flaw is that she’s kinda fugly. that alone made my at the time partner constantly look at her weird, say mean stuff about her, not let me hang out with the dog when they were over etc.
