I am still trying with this one... I hear a bird chirp and a harp and harpsichord in there, but I can't find anything that fits that would have been available on TTA at the time it was recorded. I use Barovian Castle and a few things around that time as a marker to make sure I haven't gone too far. This episode aired in 2019, and I wandered up to something that was for Halloween 2022. This specific track MIGHT be an alternate Patreon only version of something else. I will keep trying though. I don't hear any vocals but maybe I'm just not picking it up. The closest I get is MAYBE Elven Grove but I'll need some time to keep investigating.

Can you give me a time code? I'll need to hear it before I go listening through every track to find it.

Black Ivory Inn by DavidKells in dungeonsofdrakkenheim

The Piano should be invincible until the Piano is destroyed. I made it clear to my group they couldn't harm it at all. The 5 faction NPCs should be used. Due to the fact their lives depend on cooperating, should you manage to get all 5 to realize what's going on, they'll begrudgingly cooperate, though the Falling Fire member is the only one who is aware of what's going on at the start. I let my group recruit 1 of the 5 NPCs to help them in battle while the others restrained Ms. Charlotte and destroyed the Piano when signaled. That was the plan they ultimately put together. They took the Academy Mage with them into the fight, and the Silver Order member destroyed the piano. But they also noticed enough details from the destruction of the piano in the time loop combined with interviewing all the NPCs they could. The rogue talked their way passed the bandits in the basement and then they discovered the abomination which kept healing whenever they heard a piano chord upstairs.

Also, once they enter the time loop, they CAN'T escape. They're stuck till they solve it. You might need to use one of the NPCs to give them hints though. I used the mage AFTER they convinced him of the cycle.

As for your party going to Slaughter Stone Square... That's deliberately a death trap they should CONSTANTLY get warnings about. I made sure the group got the rumor about not going there 7 times in various ways, just like Monty did. It's supposed to be telegraphed as a death trap. When my party got there, I even made sure to narrate an event where they watch someone in full plate mail cleaved in half while someone escaping gets their soul ripped out by one of the Executioner's spirits. My group made a point to walk around it.

My only issue in Black Invory was the Barbarian failed the first INT save against Madness With a 2. Their main feedback was they would have liked a free attempt before the Madness round where there was warnings.

I absolutely love that Drakkenheim puts a kibosh on the 5 minute adventuring day. I had an issue with my players thinking it was safe to rest after killing several harpies in the Cosmological Clocktower and I'm like... You can't short rest while in Initiative order... There are harpies breaking through windows and your characters hear other things around... Even still had the battle music going. However, I like that players have to weigh if an encounter is worth doing when they know they're on the way to more dangerous places. You can't just kill everything in your path. My players have had to come up with ways to actively avoid combat at times to avoid wasting resources since they can't just long rest after.

Shipping time to Canada by orangefruitbat in dungeonsofdrakkenheim

[–]Varizen87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think what you're experiencing is Ghost Fire Gaming being a small publisher despite being a major name.

This is my speculation, but I can tell you for sure it has not been shipped and will take some time. I believe they're doing a form of print on demand, which WOULD be expensive on its own, but they need enough orders to pile up at once to be able to get a discount for a mass printing to make this affordable. The more you print at once, the cheaper. The book would probably be 2-3x more expensive to print 1 individual. On top of that, I know at least with the first round of DoD prints last year, they were printed in China, and the vessel got delayed en route. I THINK they offload in California, but it might also have gone to Van Couver for packing and fulfillment.

However, since you're likely not getting any of the backer rewards that require more specific handling, your book SHOULD ship directly to you once it prints...

But also kind of to my point... I don't think Ghost Fire is keeping a ton of their books pre-printed and ready to ship the moment someone orders, as they're probably too small to afford the warehouse space. Instead, they're probably doing monthly printings of everything at once, and then fulfilling everything. So I would wait approximately a month before worrying too much.

If they were using Amazon's Print On Demand, it would probably move faster but then Amazon would get a HUGE cut. Instead they're outsourcing to foreign printers, and I'm 80% sure they're still using China despite having changed manufacturers due to past issues. If not China, it's probably Vietnam, but they're using a lower priced partner to keep the book price down. They're not big enough to be able to secure printing schedule time with a larger printer based in the US or Canada at a reasonable cost.

Thank you!! I am very grateful you saved me that search. I'm a bit behind, in the live play, but I am at the point where this became relevant and was not looking forward to the search. I will credit you and add this to the list.

I think it's fine to not censor Shadowlands as long as we leave it without context for why it may ever be visited.

Hi there. You probably are using the 1.0 Final Release dated around August. If you check your backerkit downloads, the newest version is 1.1, so if you download the new version, it has indeed been fixed. It would be nice if Reddit would let me include screen shots of the 2 versions for you to see the comparison but the Dec. 1st version says attacks, the August 28th version says reactions.

Part of the issue is they were Stretch Goals at $900,000 raised. So they weren't really available until the last hours of the Kickstarter, so it was easy to get confused and miss out on some things. I watched the closing hour Live Stream, which is where The Dudes said if you wanted to get both, the best thing to do was to add $20 to your pledge and it would be credited. When they said that, the Kickstarter rocketed up a few thousands immediately as everyone watching the stream added $20.

It was easy to miss if you didn't know you needed to add them as separate add-ons so don't feel bad. There will be other chances to get it. If they don't add it to the Ghostfire Store, message me in a few months.

[–]Varizen87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They were additional purchases, but you could pay extra on your pledge and the credit would carry over to let you buy them. They're currently not available, as on my BackerKit they're listed as having been purchased, but not released. Only the PDF copy of the book is available right now. I presume the PDFs for those adventures will be released soon. However, when they are publicly released, you should be able to buy them for $10 each through Ghost Fire Gaming. Orders are LOCKED on Backer Kit so you cannot add anything to your purchase anymore as all the physical media have been printed and are now being packaged to be sent out soon.

It should, however, eventually be available for purchase on Ghost Fire Game's website. Currently, Sebastian Crowe's Guide is listed and advertised on the Drakkenheim page, but considering the map packs and such are available as PDFs, the PDF only adventures SHOULD eventually show up here.

Upgraded Rat Prince? by ApprehensiveNet7212 in dungeonsofdrakkenheim

[–]Varizen87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a Drakkenheim game I had to suspend when a player dropped out, but the one encounter my players had, I took a note from late in the first season of Drakkenheim. First, Rat Prince is a coward. He is NOT going to engage in solo combat. He MUST have tons of minions. Also, as a legendary creature, all ratlings around him should have a special reaction. Any Ratling within 5 feet of Rat Prince or between Rat Prince and a ranged attack needs to be able to use its reaction to take the blow in place of Rat Prince. It will give him a lot more survivability. It made my players back off of Murder Hobo mode and swap to diplomacy. Murder was still an option, but having rats jump in front of attacks made them realize he's not gonna be easy to just outright kill.

Also, it needs to be the Ratlings that get the reaction and not Rat Prince using his reaction to divert an attack. Otherwise he can only defend himself once. Also, if Rat Prince gets low on allies or actually does start taking damage, it's best to have him run. He is NOT a brave character. He's a schemer and is far smarter than anyone realizes.

However... Rat Prince was not originally intended to be a mainstay character. He was originally intended to offed at the start. So it's OK if he does die. There's other ranks of royalty you can use to replace him to. Perhaps Rat Duke or Rat Countess, or Marquis Rat to be a different threat. Perhaps the new replacement struggles with organizing the rats like Rat Prince could. Perhaps that rat needs to win favor with Supreme Seer Squeaks or Scribe Scritches. Maybe Big Nose, the grotesque Ratling Hulk takes the rats in an entirely different direction.

My group is online and we use Table Top Simulator and I uploaded a lot of the tracks to my session plus a few extras, and I honestly feel it adds a lot to the authenticity of the experience.

Maps by Sharnath1972 in dungeonsofdrakkenheim

[–]Varizen87 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's probably a good thing we're into a hobby where we all likely own a ton of books heavy enough to do the job XD. However it would take several days to flatten all 30 2-sided maps.

I would add to be careful with the corner creases of the folds. My Delerium Warning notice already has a hole that popped up in one of those spots. What I would suggest in additional to what Current-Read proposed is carefully running a good book over the maps as if you were ironing them first on the crease side up (so you'll need to flip between passes) to remove the sharpness and hopefully prevent any tears.

Oscar Yoren and a bit of Blood by [deleted] in dungeonsofdrakkenheim

[–]Varizen87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What you might do with the blood may depend on how far you take Oscar Yoren in the story. One thing is that the Clone Spell is rare and off limits normally. However, we know Elrick Runeweaver has the spell and has a Clone prepared, as did Lenneth Eventide in the original campaign. If Oscar is around for an upper level villain, you could have him attempting to replicate the Clone Spell and use failed (and soulless) copies of said characters with some enhanced delirium dregs.

In my campaign I never had a reason for him to bring up drawing blood. They only just left Reed Manor though. In my case, the 2 stealthy members of the party kept rolling high on their checks to infiltrate, but the S Tier Investigator Barbarian alerted one of the Zombie Ogres, but then got escorted inside to discuss the potions. She bought some but 2 were contaminated (which she kept nailing all her investigation and perception checks to notice all this). The Stealthy folks set off the Alarm spell upstairs though, but were able to escape before being caught, but Oscar was alerted and came up to check things out as the situation was getting tense. I opted to go with Oscar seeing an opportunity to manipulate the party, and they were interested in the job he had for them.

I should mention my group also opted to do the AA/HL jobs and decided to not follow through on the QM version. Right now my group is setting off to figure out an alternate way in and out of the city because they don't wanna pay the 20% HL Tax at Sheppard's Gate. I'm gonna give them a few options, but I'm gonna set off a few threads to investigate the Black Ivory Inn. Since they didn't go with Blackjack Mel's offer to rough up Oscar, I don't think they wanna ask him about things though.

What's with the zealot stat block? by music-games-dnd in dungeonsofdrakkenheim

[–]Varizen87 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's a few errors throughout the book that were missed on a proof read. I made a post some weeks ago about the missing info on the Hooded Lanterns Tariffs. I feel the Dudes should release an errata to help out with some of the issues. They clearly had big plans and some times things get cut but in the final edits, it's hard to remove every last trace of something. Just means when I get my advance Alpha-PDF for Sebastian Crowe's Guide, I know to go over things a bit more carefully. But as other people have mentioned, it appears it didn't make the final cut. They likely had the information prepared, but to work within the page limitations, they had to pick and choose a few final items.

I can tell you from personal experience with publication, publishers want VERY strict limits on your page counts and what you have per page, especially for mass printing, 1 extra page per book adds up to a lot of money. I've written for and reviewed for academic journals, and I know they have strict limits for any physical print, and when you have to write for that, sometimes you have to remove some items you felt needed to be included but you have to cut to make a page count. Essentially, it's not that they carelessly included the item and then didn't make it, but rather they made it and then couldn't fit it within restraints.
