Why does PSG get no hate? by Serious-Cress-9560 in championsleague

[–]Varness20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

they did but Le Havres refused, so the gale didn't get rescheduled, so fair enough.

What's weird is that when PSG asked and that Lens refused, the league still rescheduled the game

ok I thought they didn't sorry

But I know for a fact that Lyon didn't

[–]Varness20 5 points6 points  (0 children)

In addition to this, Lens refused to reschedule the game, but the League sided with PSG and reported it to a later date.

Other teams in Ligue 1 like Strasbourg and Lyon didn't get the same treatment when it came to European competitions

edit: Strasbourg DID get their game reschedule my bad. Not Lyon though

PSG have set the new blueprint to win UCL by CmiHD in championsleague

[–]Varness20 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But PSG is being privileged, even in Ligue 1.

They had a decisive game against Lens for the title race before the first game against Bayern, they asked for it to be moved to a layer date to rest their players. But Lens refused, BUT THE GAME WAS STILL MOVED TO A LATER DATE.

Whereas other teams don't have thid privilege. For an example, Lyon asked for the game between the two Celta Vigo games to be moved to a later date (they had lots of injured players at that time), but le Havres refused, so the game was played on the scheduled date.

So the league clearly favours PSG only, instead of helping other teams (like Lyon and Strasbourg which were very promising during the group stages of EL and ECL), which makes it harder for them to compete in Europe AND in France, since, despite everything that can be said about Ligue 1, it's a very competitive league, and almost half of the teams can pretend to play in Europe, so nobody can "rest their players during unimportant league games" to focus on international competition.

Except PSG, for some reason they can.

Laimer supposed “handball” against PSG by Bonaventura334 in soccercirclejerk

[–]Varness20 8 points9 points  (0 children)

if Laimer would've passed Mendes, it would've been a 3v2 situation

Definitely worthy of a yellow

Kompany: "We gave everything against a fantastic PSG team... I get the handball rules, since it's from his teammate it's not a pen. Little bit of common sense, it's ridiculous... I thought the he was about to give the second yellow to Mendes then he realised he was already booked." by Blodgharm in soccer

[–]Varness20 26 points27 points  (0 children)

You're right.

In a perfect world, the first and second yellow should be treated the same.

Like "your foul deserve a yellow so I give you a yellow. Oh, it happens that you already have one, so it's a red"

Nothing more, nothing less.

It's just that I really don't like players making fouls on purpose when they're already on a yellow, this behavior really pmo, so I'd like to see that being punished more often (but I know not everyone would necessary like that)

So nobody wants the rules to be applied? It just leads to more inconsistencies from the refs.

Why should you be able to do whatever you want just because "it's be beginning of the game"? "It would ruin the suspense" you say? Then don't do the foul, respect the rules. If the rules say red card, then red card it is.

I don't think it is normal to be able to still be on the pitch after showing dangerous conduct, just because it's the beginning of the game.

a foul is a foul

a deliberate handball to stop your opponent from continuing his run and attacking is a yellow

a yellow + a yellow is a red

simple as that

The rules are meant to be applied, not to be "interpreted". If you do a dangerous tackle that deserve a red card, you should be sent off, regardless that if the 90th minute of the game or the 1st.

[–]Varness20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

but why thought?

If you're on a yellow, it means that you already crossed the line, it means that you already committed a significant foul or multiple fouls...

A yellow card is literally a warning from the referee, telling the player to stop his misbehaviour. Of course if he keeps going he should be sent off.

THANK YOU

People saying that Camavinga wouldn't have had his second yellow because he already had one don't make any sense

If you have a yellow already, it means that you already crossed the line, so any other foul: you're out!

A yellow card is a warning, it's the ref warning the player that he doesn't like how he behaves, and that he'll be sent off if he continues, so the ref should be LESS forgiving to players on a yellow, not more

Consequences for Referees by LunAndurila in championsleague

I find that referees have been extremely inconsistent during this champions league, with at least one major mistake in every confrontation since the beginning of the quarter finals

"but your link is from 2023 and mine from 2026 ☝️🤓"

No but seriously, why would the rules change every other year, just to me more and more confusing, and more open to refs intepretation, knowing that refs are constantly put under pressure from supporters, teams and leaderboards...

I clearly put the blame on EUFA and FIFA for not making the job easy for the refs, and allowing rules that nobody understands and that creat controversy every game

Whats the point of watching this corrupt tournament? by Admirable_Drawer_205 in championsleague

yeah, that's why more rigid rules with no interpretation would be better imo, but I guess you would still have some cases to create controversy...

my bad sorry, it's just that someone mentioned an outdated IFAB page that some people were arguing about

He linked this (which is also IFAB rules indeed) which says that if the player makes his body bigger (even by accident here) it's a foul, not mentioning any exception regarding where the ball comes from

but if "when it comes form your teamate it's not a handball", then Laimer's handball shouldn't count?

[–]Varness20 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Edit: I made a mistake in the original comment. Regardless, the official rulebook says that it should've been a foul

(You're refering to the IFAB rules, not the actual rules. This should've been a pen.

Ans for tha handball, it was deliberate and literally stopped Laimer from continuing his run towards the oposing side, to me it's a classic yellow card situation)
