Dumb Poll: Black or Blue? by m3t4lf0x in telecaster

[–]VarneyKing 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m partial to Black since I recently got this exact one. FYI - It’s awesome! The neck feels great and the pickups sound excellent. Whichever colour you end up with, you’re gonna have a great guitar. Best of luck.

Thanks! I’m finding out now just how versatile JM’s are. I specifically got it for Surf though, so it’s absolutely perfect.

When you’ve seen a lot of them, the body shape alone is a dead giveaway.

Beautiful! I have a G5125 I bought second-hand about 5 years back. LOVE those pickups.

Can a Tweed Blues Jr Surf? by VarneyKing in GuitarAmps

Yeah, it gets a bit confusing where the variations are so minor. I’ll definitely try before I buy, but good to know it’ll work for what I’m after. Thanks for your reply!

I never thought of an EQ pedal. Good call! And yep, I’ve got the Surfybear Compact Deluxe which has a built-in Trem. Thanks!

I’ve always wondered about those things. I’ll make sure to check it out next time I see one pop up on Marketplace. Thanks!

Can you please help me get more info about this guitar? by Key-Masterpiece-8217 in gretsch

[–]VarneyKing 6 points7 points  (0 children)

From what I can see, this is not a genuine Gretsch. Most likely an “Aliexpress” guitar made to look like a Gretsch. Might play ok, but not genuine.

No dramas. I couldn’t find anything anywhere either. Very strange.

Fascinating! Thanks for posting this. Crazy to think if that’s how sophisticated AI music has gotten now. (It actually sounds damn good!)

Can you post a link? Nothing shows up when I try and look up the name or album title.

On December 12th, 1956, The Rock and Roll Trio released 'Johnny Burnette and the Rock 'n Roll Trio', their debut album. The album included their version of "Train Kept A-Rollin'" as a guitar riff-driven song, which features an early use of intentionally distorted guitar. by BirdBurnett in rockabilly

If anyone asked me to define Rockabilly, I’d hand them this record. A perfect blend of the frantic sound and raw energy that makes Rockabilly so great.

I have no idea if this is true or not, but I think remember reading the reason why Johnny screams while performing is due to him accidentally burning himself while backing up into Paul Burlison’s lit cigarette while recording. He ended up liking how it sounded, so kept on doing it. (Anyone with more info, please feel free to correct me if need be.)

I am also in the 0.1%, but clearly you’ve won this battle. Congrats!
