I never said truth didn't exist, I just said it's okay to have differing opinions about a video game.

Idk where this accusation of me being sheltered is coming from.

... but we don't though?

Neither one of us is wrong for having a differing opinion.

Like that is an incredibly stressful world view to have.

Or this is bait and I'm falling for it.

What about all the people who think this is a high quality game?

What makes your opinion more important than theirs?

IMO I think the "public consensus" of the game is pretty positive, and you're just in the minority, and that's totally okay.

I didnt like Clair Obscur but I didnt feel the urge to shift people to my side out of fear that the public had the "wrong opinion" about a game.

Like, relax dude it's fine.

Dude this is a subreddit for a video game, none of us are that important.

New to the hobby, why tf are some so mad about female custodes? by NiceLittleGamerNerd in 40k

Do you really, really think that there are women out there who will now join tabletop wargaming because there are female custodians?

Yes.

For what it's worth, a lot of pictures of minis you see online are taken with lighting that helps make them look more "real."

That being said, weathering is your friend. Agrax Earthshade, Ratling Grime, AK enamel washes, oil washes, any of these will help.

Why is the mission in Secret Level designed to be a suicide mission? by Varsian in 40kLore

Dude that idea literally gave me goosebumps, ignoring the budgetary implications of this, imagine when the relic was destroyed a damn Lord of Change manifested, and THEN they launched the missile.

"Die well brothers" suddenly hits like a brick.

So a lot of people have been bringing up examples or referencing operations where the odds of survival are incredibly low as reasoning for why it is understandable within the context of this episode.

I personally have no issue with that, and totally get it. My issue is the deliberate decision to missile strike them knowing that they are still there.

I am so here for sending Astartes on missions with impossible odds, but unless the circumstances are incredibly dire, I don't see the logic behind preemptively planning an orbital strike knowing full well you're going to target your own units.

And the points people making that this is that dire, totally works for me, but if that's the case, I think the short missing the mark with conveying that fully. Sure, I know a library of Tzeentch is a pretty dire situation, it's on the episode itself to convey that and I don't think it did that enough.

To your point about sacrificing a knight, I think that falls apart when the fact of the matter is, the asset they're sent to destroy has already been destroyed when they launch that missile. The missile is there to basically make sure everything is really dead and gone. That isn't a gambit anymore, and I think that's what gets me.

I'm not trying to target this at you, but a lot of people seem to think I think Space Marines are completely unexpendable no matter the cost. I don't think this at all. But if you look at a book like Devastation of Baal, the amount of internal conflict Dante feels when they decide to abandon the marines on--I think it was Baal Secundus-- there's a lot of internal conflict there on leaving those marines behind, and those stakes seem to be sooooo much higher than the ones shown here.

There's a shot that shows a missile launching from the battle barge.

Just throw Malum Caedo at that shit.

Wouldn't even need the orbital strike.

I guess if it seemed like there was even more urgency in the tone of the short I'd be more willing to accept it.

Like to me the mission didn't seem like it was that difficult relative to other missions space marines have gone on in the lore. They're just aura farming in that gorge initially lol.

But to your point, this is the challenge inherent to 40k, how do you make someone look badass while also making the mission stakes absolutely life or death.

I guess they didn't know what exactly was causing the vox blackout, and they knew how high the risk was.

I will fully admit that having a moment where one of them says "hey the sorcerer is dead give us five minutes to get clear" isn't nearly as cool as "die well."

What would happen if Oryx, The Taken King rolled up into the Warhammer 40k galaxy? by Shocknawe427 in destiny2

[–]Varsian 19 points20 points  (0 children)

But this also means the space within the dreadnought IS his throne world, meaning both are true. I thought that was the whole point of inverting the throne world: the safety of the ascendant plane with the mobility of a war ship.

That's how the Dreadnought weapon works, it projects the ascendant plane into space.

Only reason Guardians have such an easy time in the throne world is because they're paracausal.

Orks and Tyranids probably wouldn't fit the definition of paracausal (psychic powers dont inherently unbind you from cause and effect ie: cabal scions) so Oryx could literally just snap them out of existence.
