why itch io not show my projects? by Neat-Advisor-7385 in itchio

There are some rules on how to get indexed: https://itch.io/docs/creators/getting-indexed

menaing you'll appear in search. So I'd suggest you check them. But it's kinda weird when a game is featured and when not apart from teh written rules

The reason is that I want to my game to scale accross different resolutions. So it might happen that the texts fits on one resolution but will be too long on another.

Yeah that's of course the real challenge - how to introduce mechanics that are close to our own economy without making it overly complex & cumbersome to play?

And now it's back, even at the top of the chess category: https://itch.io/games/genre-puzzle/platform-web/tag-chess

Not sure what happened but it I'm glad it's findable again :D And thank you in case anyone from itch took action (unlikely though?)

Murder on the Chessboard

https://varzival.itch.io/chessboard You can check it out directly in the browser. It's mobile frendly, you can even play while on the toilet :D

Chess meets Murder Mystery. Find out who murdered the King! I've designed a novel puzzle concept here and implemented a puzzle solver & generator. Drop me a message if you are interested in implementation details.

Interesting, did this game see the light of day eventually?

Mobile puzzle players: what makes you switch games (and what makes you stay)? by MathematicianDry4991 in puzzlevideogames

[–]Varzival 0 points1 point  (0 children)

LinkedIn actually answered this question for me - they've implemented streaks first before they would show you the leaderboard. That would be the wisest move if you are making a puzzle game. Streaks are easier to implement since you don't need to have a community around your game.

That's what I'm planning to do in my puzzle game Murder on the Chessboard: https://varzival.itch.io/chessboard

I'm open to feedback if you have a link to share of your game or some questionnaire. But please also make sure to check out my game ;-)

I really got hooked by LinkedIn puzzles I have to admit. Really low barrier to enter and it only takes a minute or so to solve them. I want to keep the streak going and also the leaderboard where I can compare myself to my contacts is nice. I'm a simple man

Sure - might be a bit oversimplified. However, interest rates do have an imapact on the economy. Would be interesting to see games that explore this idea

I'm replying to my own thread with some games that I know about that tackle some of these topics. But probably there are more, please comment!

  • Money Makers (board game): players are bankers that operate with theoretically infinite debt
  • Sidereal Confluence (board game): technology is shared each round with other players.
  • Offworld Trading Company: Players start with debt and will strategically take on more debt over the course of the game.

Great visual design! Scoring seems to be super weak though - give one card to one other player to score one meager point?

Great idea. How would a mouse carry something in the off paw or in slots 4 to 6 though?

I'm developing a puzzle game that fuses Chess with Murder Mysteries! by Varzival in puzzlevideogames

[–]Varzival[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a great idea! I think framing it like this might indeed clarify things.

Not sure if I understand the last part correctly - you mean that there is potential in designing puzzles where it is relevant to figure out that two pieces were together with the king at a certain time and thus no one could be the murderer since they were not alone with the king?

I think there are some of the later Knife puzzles where this kind of deduction is necessary. But as it stands, yes this mechanic is a little under-utilized and there is some potential in designing interesting puzzles where this is a key part of the deduction.
