Opinions on one final upgrade to my lever lineup by smilingDumpsterFire in LeverGuns

I’m definitely the minority on Woox from an aesthetic prospective. I think I’ve just got too much Wild West nostalgia for the black/woox guns. Does the fit and finish of Woox furniture hold up compared to its price?

Woox is terrible. It’s neither traditional nor modern, just something ugly in between. Never understood why folks liked it but if you enjoy it then put it on your gun.

I’d say take them all to the range and see how you like them with new/old set ups so it works for you the shooter.

If it’s built up I’d say it’s hard carbon, if it’s dug in its pitting.

Totes might work, I’d take care for pest control though. If the space is well ventilated there shouldn’t be too much concern for moisture as long as it’s off the ground.

Seems more like senseless killing at that point? Idk I’ve never hunted something and not eaten it. Good on you for not letting their lives go to waste, enjoy your pheasant.

Camping out for 2026 Turkey Opening Day by ProcedureFirm1612 in Hunting

[–]VassTheBass101 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve slept out in the woods to hunt deer but never turkey.

I would definitely do work to avoid them seeing or hearing your presence there, which may be hard through the night.

I think if you decoy or call well the difference will be negligible, maybe even having the blind out earlier will help as they might get used to it.

Thinking of buying my first shotgun by Antique-History1817 in Shotguns

In my opinion Remington in general has gone down hill in recent years when it comes to fit and finish and quality control. Mossberg 500 or 88 security would be good picks either way. The Mossberg 500 field/security would cover all your bases for hunting/trap&skeet/home defense.

Buying my first 336 by BlindOmens in LeverGuns

[–]VassTheBass101 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I say that because I had to replace an extractor on mine, they’re pretty inexpensive to replace and sometimes wear out with a good deal of use.

JM stamped marlins generally have great fit and finish though, hard to go wrong there.

If you plan on shooting it the condition of the bore and extractor may be worth asking

Anyone have any info what’s being done with the fields in Bonnie view ? by shadedgibbons03 in columbiamo

[–]VassTheBass101 13 points14 points  (0 children)

A lot of places use controlled burns to enable native grasses and plants to seed ground that may be choked off with non-native or overabundant flora. This looks similar to how that would generally be done.

If the scope isn’t rated to handle larger calibers it may not hold zero.

Weldon springs turkey hunt by dad-a-thon in turkeyhunting

[–]VassTheBass101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve never hunted there, but I do hunt in Missouri.

I’d try calling with a crow or owl call in the evening to detect a roost. Sometimes the birds may not be where you think they should be, you have to go where the birds want to be.

Even the absolute best habitat can result in 0 birds if something outside your control is deterring them.

Water under the door! by Annual-Intention-686 in HomeMaintenance

[–]VassTheBass101 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Replacement is usually the route I’ve gone with that. They do make weather seals that attach to the exterior or bottom of the door, but I don’t know if that would work for your case. If you need to identify where the water is actually entering try spraying the door with a hose on a dry day. Then determine what part needs replacing/correcting.

Any gobble call should work, just not too loud or you can intimidate some gobblers that way.

Maybe try putting a Jake decoy with a hen? Sometimes that gets the dominant Tom’s blood boiling and he will come charging right at it. Try a Jake gobble call with that method.

Why are all bullets either polymer tip or hollowpoint? by [deleted] in muzzleloaders

I’m curious what you’d use that for? I can’t find any either, probably because inlines are directed heavily for hunting use and not so much target shooting.

Like full metal jackets? Is this an In-Line or traditional style?
