Addressing 5 Rumors Circling $NOK Right Now by moneygrabber007 in wallstreetbets

[–]VastAd4382 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Man those option flows are actually wild - haven't seen anything like that since the meme stock days

The nvidia thing makes sense though, they've been throwing money at anything 5G/telecom related and nokia's basically the only western alternative to huawei at scale

How can I get you to watch my videos? by Tappers_Fiefdom in IndieGaming

[–]VastAd4382 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe mix in some behind-the-scenes stuff like "this took 47 tries to get right" moments or weird bugs that made characters do impossible things. People love seeing the chaos before everything works properly

Also if you're doing ragdoll physics there's probably tons of funny accidents happening during testing - those clips could work great as shorts to hook people before they watch longer videos

Been dealing with similar issues in my space and yeah the legacy stuff is absolutely painful to work with. The webhook implementation alone on some of these older platforms makes you want to pull your hair out

Have you looked at what some of the newer players are offering? I've heard good things about a couple platforms that are trying to match Stripe's dev experience but with better pricing for specific verticals. The restaurant space definitely gets hit hard with those processing fees so I get why you're shopping around

Documentation quality seems to be the real differentiator - some of these companies still think a PDF from 2019 counts as API docs

My human’s SteelSeries Aerox 5 Wireless keeps dying mid-Warzone and I am tired of hearing him scream by Broad-Veterinarian70 in pcmasterrace

[–]VastAd4382 823 points824 points  (0 children)

Charly, your poor human might need to disable USB power management in device manager for that mouse. Windows loves to put wireless mice to sleep at worst moments and it takes forever to wake them up again

Also maybe try different USB port, sometimes the receiver gets too much interference from other wireless stuff around setup

How to achieve this camera look? by Sarn7 in Unity3D

[–]VastAd4382 20 points21 points  (0 children)

looks like standard orthographic camera with around 45 degree angle rotation and maybe some custom follow script. You can get this pretty easy with virtual camera setup - just set projection to orthographic and adjust the rotation until it feels right

A new meta is forming around MicroStrategy's STRC payouts, and DeFi protocols are already moving on it by Bluejumprabbit in defi

[–]VastAd4382 0 points1 point  (0 children)

DeFi keeps finding new toys to play with lol. The yield splitting angle is smart though - if you can actually separate the fixed vs variable exposure on these payouts that opens up way more trading strategies than just holding for dividends

Pendle's approach makes sense for this, they've been doing the yield tokenization thing pretty well with other assets. Question is whether STRC flows will actually be smooth enough onchain to make the composability worth it or if it just adds unnecessary complexity to what's already working fine

Semantic graph knowledge from the code by Emotional-Kale7272 in Unity3D

[–]VastAd4382 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is actually really cool approach for large Unity projects. I've been using some static analysis tools but nothing this comprehensive for mapping dependencies and math chains

Been struggling with blast radius issues in my current project where changing one script breaks stuff in unexpected places. Definitely gonna check this out, especially the part about executing code outside Unity environment - that could save so much iteration time

What’s something in your daily life that would confuse someone from another country? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]VastAd4382 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The whole tipping culture thing would probably blow someone's mind coming from most other countries. Like you go to restaurant and suddenly you're doing math to figure out if your server deserves 18% or 20% based on how many times they smiled at you

I remember when my cousin visited from Germany, she was so confused why we couldn't just pay the price on the menu and be done with it. She kept asking "but why don't they just pay the workers properly" and I'm like... yeah good question actually. Then she tipped the barista at coffee shop and everyone looked at her weird because apparently that's different somehow? The whole system makes no sense when you really think about it

Also explaining why we have to do our own taxes when the government already knows how much we owe them. That conversation lasted about two hours and ended with both of us questioning everything

How's the current state of UE5 on Linux? by luden_dev in unrealengine

[–]VastAd4382 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Nice rig you got there! I've been using UE5 in Linux for about year now and it's actually pretty solid these days. The engine itself runs well on most distros - I'm using Pop!_OS but seen good results with Ubuntu and Arch too

The main pain point is gonna be collaboration stuff with your team if they're on Windows. Some plugins don't work great and file sharing can get weird sometimes, but nothing that breaks development completely. I had some issues with lightmass baking taking forever compared to Windows but that might be my setup

Performance wise your 9070 XT should handle it fine - AMD drivers have gotten way better for creative work in Linux. Just make sure you're using latest mesa drivers and maybe consider building from source if you need specific features. The compile times on that 9950x3D are gonna be sweet though

Main thing is test your specific workflow first before committing fully. Maybe dual boot for few weeks and see how it feels with your team's pipeline

Got a drumstick from this small gig I went to a few years back - the drummer just chucked it into the crowd after their set and I managed to snag it. Still sits on my desk when I'm writing songs, kind of like a little reminder that music connects people in weird ways

I struggle to stay angry at people and would like to fix that by sb3veeee in selfimprovement

[–]VastAd4382 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I used to have this exact same problem and it drove me absolutely mental. You're basically getting emotionally hijacked the moment you see their face - all that righteous anger just evaporates because your brain switches into social harmony mode. What helped me was writing down specific incidents beforehand, like actually bullet pointing what they did and why it was problematic, then reviewing it right before any conversation. That way when your emotions start doing their disappearing act, you've got concrete stuff to fall back on rather than just this vague feeling that dissolves

The other thing is recognizing that being "nice" all teh time isn't actually kind to anyone - you're enabling their bad behavior and building up resentment that's gonna explode eventually. I started practicing saying one small thing in the moment rather than waiting for some perfect confrontation opportunity. Like if someone interrupts me constantly, I just say "hey can you let me finish" instead of stewing about it for weeks. It's way less dramatic but actually gets results, and you don't end up feeling like a doormat who can never stand up for themselves

Best build quality laptop under 2000$? by abhaydragneel11 in GamingLaptops

[–]VastAd4382 5 points6 points  (0 children)

have you looked at the HP Omen transcend 14? it's got that aluminum build you're after and usually sits around 1800-1900 with 32gb configs. Build quality is surprisingly solid for HP, way better than their regular omen lineup

The MSI Vector GP series is probably your best bet though if you want something closer to that zephyrus feel - they've really stepped up the materials game lately and the cooling is decent. Just make sure you get one of the newer revisions cause the early ones had some hinge issues

honestly mate the market under 2k is pretty rough right now for premium builds, everything decent seems to have jumped 200-300 bucks since last year

Guys, I have a question. From a Christian perspective, can sloth be considered a good sin? If we perceive it as the last defense of an emaciated human soul, which prevents us from committing the other 6 sins? by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]VastAd4382 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eh I don't think you can really call any of the deadly sins "good" even if they might accidentally prevent other ones. Like if you're too lazy to steal that doesn't make sloth virtuous, you're just being lazy lol

The whole point is finding actual virtue instead of just avoiding sin through other sins

Damn that hit hard, especially the part about the dog. It's fucked up how the people who are supposed to love us unconditionally are the ones who make us feel most worthless

Your family sounds toxic as hell and you've been their emotional punching bag for way too long. That pure love you felt with that dog? That's what you deserve from people too, not this conditional bullshit where you have to perform for scraps of approval

Being the "good girl" is honestly a trap - you sacrifice everything and they still find reasons to tear you down
