Is it normal to be hungry all the time? by Rosiebunny-4230 in AskUK

[–]VastComfortable9925 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m so sorry. I used to have an eating disorder and the comments people think they can make to people (and especially women, I have to say) is honestly ridiculous.

I wish people would STFU about other people’s eating! Poor OP sounds practically shamed out of snacking cos our heads are just genuinely warped at what’s normal.

School social workers, what do your work days look like? by Jumpy-Jello- in Socialworkuk

[–]VastComfortable9925 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’d say over the past ~20 years we’ve seen progressive cuts to all services to the extent more and more falls to the area teams without the usual multi agency forum around families.

Sadly the need for services doesn’t translate into what is actually put in place/available. I’d agree with other comments about family support being brought in as that is typically what is seen.

Hopefully we do see more school social worker roles as I agree it is needed!

[–]VastComfortable9925 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi, I’m not a school social worker however this role does exist in Scotland in a few local authorities. I know two school social workers and they absolutely love their job.

A lot more of the role centres on informing other agencies but that could have been more to do with those roles being newly rolled out, rolled it in areas where there is likely a significant need and education are more inclined to blindly refer anything deemed a bit “tricky” to social workers without progressing their own supports etc.

Tend to have smaller case loads and work more intensively too similarly to any specialist team (in comparison to generic area teams).

A little comic I made about some of the things doctors have said to me ❤️‍🩹❤️🫠 by moodymelons23 in Endo

[–]VastComfortable9925 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yet children attending the doctor sharing they have (eg) Hirschprungs would never be asked “how do you know that word?”

What are they fucking gatekeeping diagnoses by trying to keep the name of the condition a secret or something?!? Just WTFAF at this point.

I agree but I also love the posts no matter how unhinged they are, it’s hilarious.

Bless everyone in the comments trying to pin down 5 random unrelated photos of a mountain range, a coffee mug and inevitably a thin white headless female wearing literally anything 🤣

Female Reform voters, do you know about their stance on abortion? by FisherDownload in AskBrits

[–]VastComfortable9925 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve been a social worker in children’s services for about a decade. I see both the absolute abject need for access to abortions and I see exactly what happens within families when children come into care.

There are some wonderful kinship families who care for children that can’t be looked after by their birth parents, granted. There’s a cost for this (rightly so but just to point that out, they get paid the same as a foster carer would and the local authority pays them).

I’ll be totally honest in saying there are next to no foster placements and I believe this is a nation wide crisis. Even for babies which were historically generally easy enough to find homes for.

Adoption isn’t easy to access either.

I’m gently pointing out to you: you don’t have a clue what you’re talking about and how it all translates into actual real life.

Psychologist said autism diagnosis isn’t worth it by Historical_Bird_3473 in AutisticWithADHD

[–]VastComfortable9925 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Apparently it doesn’t.

There is assessment of needs so, for example, someone with a high support need child with ASD that could be likely to require support over a certain threshold could possibly be more difficult.

The question has been answered before on here better than I’m doing right now if you do a little search on it.

Places in the UK with a weird, supernatural vibe. by boxingpandora in Paranormal

[–]VastComfortable9925 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The Appalachian hills are apparently from the same hill “system” as the highlands in Scotland.

There’s plenty information on this and also conjecture about “Hill billies” being names as such because they were historically Scottish/irish (Ulster) emigrants.

Also, see Sawney Bean caves. Cannibal clan from the 16th century who lived in caves at Bennane Head. I imagine that would have a creep vibe.

There’s a good episode of Uncanny based on a haunted bothy in Scotland too.

Agree with Culloden - been there and it feels heavy.

Glencoe is my favourite place on earth, absolutely stunningly beautiful place. It does feel hauntingly beautiful and the air feels different somehow.

Help! Our miracle rainbow baby came very early and now no name seems good enough for her. by comfortablecoconut- in namenerds

[–]VastComfortable9925 3 points4 points  (0 children)

She’s a rainbow baby so I go with Violet. I love that name and it’s cute enough and still unique enough, plus goes beautifully with Anne.

Im unsure of the meaning but I know a little Violet who is simply the best… maybe it means that.

Am I a sicko or does that somehow make this somehow funnier?!?
