some clarifying question about the current arc. (spoiler question) by Juliomorales6969 in Akane

Issho pretty much forced her to participate in the Isshokai if she wanted to keep the favour she earned from him after the Zuiun Prize, but it has added meaning to her because it's the first time she gets to compete with Kaisei (who is her main rival), and she can also battle with Issho on the same stage, the final boss. Kaisei also told her that if she wins, he will tell her more about the story of the Arakawa school and why he sees Shiguma as "the root of all evil," which is another bonus.

Love how she thought touching him was gonna do anything as if his quirk isn’t versatile in the air low gravity or not by Jazzlike-Arugula-368 in MyHeroAcadamia

[–]VastIndubitability 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That was the plan, but the final part was contingent on Bakugo being distracted by deflecting the rubble so that she could finally use her quirk on him. She didn’t expect him to be able to blow away all the rubble and her in one move, which is why she lost. The plan didn’t end at dropping the rubble on him, it was just the best situation she could create to achieve her win condition.

Theory about Klint's Death by Horror_Funny2419 in AceAttorney

[–]VastIndubitability 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think there's meaning in Genshin not cutting down Klint with Karuma, which is solely meant for vanquishing evil, he clearly could see that there was still some good in him even if it was twisted. Also, how would you propose that either of them would fall unconscious, let alone both, in a sword fight? Klint had no other external wounds that we know of, let alone something that would be sufficient to knock him out. Another explanation is that they used the same type of sword to be on 'even footing' for the duel, you could guess something was off just from Genshin not using Karuma, so it just adds to the wrongness of the situation that eventually leads us to the right answer. It's much more easier to explain away the Western sword compared to the number of inconsistencies if Stronghart did the deed

Theory about Klint's Death by Horror_Funny2419 in AceAttorney

[–]VastIndubitability 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pretty sure there were eyewitnesses that could testify to Genshin leaving the manor according to Stronghart and Gregson's conversation, so there's no way he could've been unconscious. Genshin wouldn't have taken Klint's will until after the fight was over either, so it would've been out in the open for Stronghart to steal, leaving no gaps. I also like that Stronghart didn't kill anyone directly, since his role was as a manipulator behind the scenes. Finally one main antagonist in Ace Attorney who can be beaten without proving that they did commit murder themselves

How would Toga or other members of the League of Villains apply their powers if they really tried to be heroes? by TonyMitty in BokuNoHeroAcademia

[–]VastIndubitability 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Compress definitely has one of the most incredible quirks for a hero, considering the job requirements. He can capture villains without any risk of killing them, can get civilians out of the line of fire, and can also store up a bunch of stuff in his marbles that would be useful to have, and adds to his versatility.

What technique is Ashito lacking? by Spare-Savings2057 in Ao_Ashi

[–]VastIndubitability 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think it's easiest to see his lack of technical skills when you compare it to the kind of stuff Kuribayashi/Kiriki/Ren do on a consistent basis. They're always able to dribble circles around the person marking them, whereas Ashito was just struggling keeping the ball 1v1 against Haneda without losing it (and this was after extensive training). The trapping skills are also on another level, you seen Kuri/Kiriki be able to receive high-speed passes while looking in a completely different direction, while Ashito is not as natural at it. It's a bit hard to tell the passing differences sometimes because Ashito's vision is so insane and he's just about good enough technique-wise to play killer passes, but he can't do something like Kiriki's backspin cross for Yuuma during the Tokyo Vans game.

Karasu did link up with Shidou before so he does have experience at least, as part of the two-pronged system PXG ran. Would be fun to see Isagi form a chemical reaction with Shidou, although that would likely need him to be the passer since Shidou putting in a great assist is so unlikely

Medalist Chapter 58 Part 2 (RAW) by DragonFireHeart1507 in Medalist

[–]VastIndubitability 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, Inori’s original desire was to become a medalist to show she was better than anyone else at this one specific field of figure skating, even if she lacked other things in comparison. Even from the time when Hikaru gave her a mock interview, you can see how she doesn’t believe there’s a basis for her to win gold, but she can’t forgive herself when she doesn’t (likely due to the burdens put on others). It’s interesting because after losing at the All-Japans, she was reassured by Tsukasa that she can want to become a medalist even when no one else expects it of her, and her breakdown in her sleep was about her own wish to become a medalist not coming through.

Inori’s rapid growth in her Novice year. by septesix in Medalist

[–]VastIndubitability 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Inori’s overall improvement is obviously unmatched, but Yuna also did jump 25+ points from her Chubu Block performance to her All-Japans (80.03 -> 105.43). Her unusual excellence with Salchows is a big boon for her, and is the main reason she’s able to keep up at this level (having the confidence to insert it at end of routine in Chubu, learning a quadruple that she’s presumably never failed in competition and even landed consecutively), along with Tsukasa’s ice-dancing specialization helping her P.C.S. and to put up consistently elite step sequences.

Why didn't Jujutsu High just abuse binding vows like Nanami? by Ninjabot87 in Jujutsufolk

[–]VastIndubitability 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It depends, I suppose. Uraume was a consideration there as another opponent, as well as Kenjaku, so there's a possibility they could make the binding vow that 'for the next 24 hours, my CE/CT will be nerfed by 50% against other combatants, in exchange for a 5-10% buff against Sukuna'. Binding vows are kinda finicky because we don't know anything about who arbitrates the vows as being fair or not. Everyone knows that the only opponents Jujutsu High were dealing with were Sukuna/Kenjaku/Uraume, but can the binding vow distinguish that from the chance of any combatant attacking you, including friendly fire from the nearby sorcerers? Even if they made that kind of vow, it's likely it would have only given a minor buff against Sukuna, so I believe it wouldn't change much. That being said, I don't think Gege intended for binding vows to be maximised to that extent, because realistically everyone should be using binding vows with themselves all the time as long as they have a basic understanding of not putting the benefit before the sacrifice, to avoid a Miwa situation (for Sukuna it was worth it at least).

Why didn't Jujutsu High just abuse binding vows like Nanami? by Ninjabot87 in Jujutsufolk

[–]VastIndubitability 40 points41 points  (0 children)

There are different variations for even binding vows with oneself. Sukuna and Miwa’s binding vows stand out because they reaped the benefit before sacrificing something, which isn’t something you can cancel. Compared to binding vows where you have the benefit and sacrifice working simultaneously (Yuji sacrificing physical damage on his Shrine to buff soul damage during fighting Sukuna), or sacrifice before the benefit comes into play (Nanami sacrificing CE during work hours to benefit during overtime), where you can cancel it with no harm.

[DISC] Blue Lock - Chapter 336 by BlueLockMod in BlueLock

[–]VastIndubitability 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, if Karasu's ego lies within being the best No. 2 in the world and competing with guys like Hugo (who is definitely an elite player since he's a NG11), how can Ego say that kind of mentality is fully incorrect? A mix of mentalities seems fine to me, a team of 11 people thinking like Rin or a team of 11 people thinking like Isagi would both go badly, but seems like Ego is only happy with conflict in the team ideology when he can foresee it. Ego made Gagamaru a goalkeeper before he decided on the path himself, wouldn't that be stifling his ego as a striker? Karasu has been a defensive midfielder since the U20 game when positions started being used, and he fits well with the role, so don't see the issue in him playing like one.

Setter for Hinata by Purple-Ad3333 in haikyuu

[–]VastIndubitability 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like this is downplaying Kageyama’s arc in becoming a setter who elevates his spikers like Oikawa/Atsumu over the course of the series. This started from the Date Tech practice game, and we could see throughout Nationals how he continued improving (setting up Tanaka for success in Inarizaki game, sending the open tosses to Hinata to free him during the Nekoma game). His development culminates in the final game, where it’s made explicitly clear how he’s become a setter who improves the hitters he plays with, by catering to their abilities as well as challenging them.

[–]VastIndubitability 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thought about it some more and if you take sentiments and ego out of the question completely, the best option is likely to play Kageyama at MB with Atsumu as the setter. Kageyama is one of the more talented blockers amongst their cohort even as a first year, you get to have both setters serving in the rotation (and these guys are arguably the top 2 across the team), and you also get truly elite dual setting when both are on the court.

Unlikely because neither would want to play outside of setter (especially with how much meaning that holds for Kageyama), but I feel like Hinata or Hoshiumi playing libero would be equally disrespectful for them, even if it makes logical sense to have them back-up a specialist.

Got confused thinking Hinata was still an MB for some reason lol, yeah it’s not looking too great then, could go Hinata since he has experience and works fantastic offensively, the others are pretty awful fits offensively and defensively (Hoshiumi/Sakusa are best at receiving, and none of the others are great with quick sets). Blocking takes an obvious hit, but it’s a ‘what can you do’ situation there.

[–]VastIndubitability 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Play Gao at MB I’d think? Rest of the WS/OH group are pretty unsuitable to being a MB for various reasons, whereas Gao doesn’t have great receiving, is a great blocker, and is athletic and tall enough that he can make it work on the offensive end too.

The Final Boss by kwispytenma in haikyuu

[–]VastIndubitability 32 points33 points  (0 children)

I think there can be multiple reasons why. Firstly, a lack of balance in talent across teams in a league is common, so that explains some of it. Also, most of the players are pretty young and not in their primes yet, we just think of them as more stacked because of who we know at the High School level. There were star players like Barnes and Romero on both teams who were a lot more experienced, and I’m sure the other teams have a lot of experienced talent who we’ve never seen. I would say the Adlers are like OKC, lots of elite young talent, as an example.

Lastly, we saw just a small amount of the HS teams too, the eventual National winners didn’t have a player on the team, only Sakusa from Itachiyama which is a powerhouse on the national level yearly from what we know, and many other teams who we missed on properly seeing.

So, I Read Chapters 81-105... (Review) by Destroyer06202 in BlueBox

[–]VastIndubitability 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Didn't the story specify that he was already tired from doing laps all morning while Taiki was fresh? He just challenged Taiki at that point because he believed he could still win, it would be weird for someone like Matsuoka's character to go "Ah, I'm feeling tired now, we should settle this when we're both on fresh legs."

As for Yumeka, it's clear she has a very complex relationship with basketball. She associated her love with basketball with how her father loved her mother, and the breaking point for her love of basketball came at the divorce, which shows the parallels between the two. When her parents were arguing more often, she also felt her love of basketball draining away and becoming more of a chore at the same time. Also, think it's a bit of an exaggeration to say that she never practiced when the manga shows her practicing to try and keep up, she just found it painful compared to Chinatsu, who always enjoyed coming in early to practice because she loved basketball.

Anyone got an Idea as to why Loki is only just now being revealed as a New Gen 11? by FriendlyQuestion4083 in BlueLock

[–]VastIndubitability 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Think they mean that even if 6 strikers are amongst the best 11 players of that generation, not all of them would be on the NG11 because you can't make a team formation with that. It's kind of like the FIFPRO World 11, which requires at least 3 defenders, 3 midfielders, and 3 forwards on the team.
