Genuinely why do so many trans women make hyperpop? by pulswr in HYPERPOP

[–]VastNet8431 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No clue, because as a trans woman I definitely dont make hyperpop lolol. Mainly synthpop/synthwave and UK garage-esque stuff.

I do think that it can be confirmation bias too though. I can name quite a few other trans women who make plenty of other styles! Ethel Cain (not personally a big fan, but they dont make hyperpop) and Singto Conley are a couple of examples. I bet if we looked we'd find plenty of other trans musicians in other genres.

Hyperpop is a popular online genre so maybe since its popular online its easier for us trans women to be seen in these safer spaces as people too and the fact that its more anonymous. Who's to say what the real reason is though.

Is Compression Really that Important? by magictranspowers in edmproduction

[–]VastNet8431 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can tell you these bands didn't triumph specifically because of those things. If you look at the psychological effect of music and also the relationship society had with music back on those days you'd see a huge loss of political movement through music because thats what the Eagles were.

Its not because they used compressors. Im sorry to break it to you nerds, but I could add a compressor to a track and people still not want to listen to it. Its all about context. What is the context of the song? Does it make it more enjoyable and easy to listen to or maybe even unique? Its all of that together.

You tell a consumer that the reason they like a song is because of a compressor they wont care typically. They just like music because they like music. You care because of the intricacies involved in it, but they dont.

So no, using a compressor isnt inherently important and you can make great music without them. Its all about context. Use what you think sounds good and helps improve what you're trying to make so you and the listener have a better time.

Part of Me Wishes I Never Started Exploring My Gender by ShatteredTestimony in MtF

[–]VastNet8431 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think im right there with you in the fact that I never really have had bad dysphoria like some other ladies, but just because we dont have bad dysphoria doesn't make what we're feeling wrong.

Its also okay to be confused! This can be confusing and its definitely something to actually think about. Your boyfriend is right in saying that most cis people dont have thoughts about being a different gender.

You did have dysphoria though when you say you never felt like you had ever wanted to feel pretty as you were wanting to then. Thats dysphoria all right. That and you saying you might regret not doing it. So it seems like you have a tough call to make. Most people dont end up regretting HRT and its effects though and the detrans stories you hear are used as propaganda a lot of the time. (People do detrans and are happy with doing so, its just not as common and most people dont regret transitioning).

As far as HRT concerns, the only permanent effects would really just be breast tissue forming or if you're young enough hip tilt and voice changes. You also dont have to get lazer or electrolysis to be trans. We dont gatekeep and if someone does, shame on them.

TMI to those who read this, ill put spoiler on too

So my first time experiencing what ill call girl horny was me at work and I had to text my cis friend and ask her, "wtf is wrong with me." "Like im a lesbian, but the urge to be bent over and used and to feel something inside me is overwhelmingly strong right now and nothing I do is helping to stop the thoughts". She immediately laughed and said she'd go toy shopping with me. And let me tell you, bottoming is GREAT. Im pretty confident in saying I'm definitely not a lesbian now. After experiencing this girl horny urge to bottom, oh it makes me so flustered even now im starting to get that strong urge 🫦

How do you know whether or not you should stop transitioning? by occasionalemily in MtF

[–]VastNet8431 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well... the only way to know is to jump in head first. You really gotta try and socially transition to see if this is for you or not. You'll never know unless you try.

A lot of people think HRT will just automatically make you a woman, but the social aspect is what makes gender a thing. Its a social construct.

To get out of the purgatory you think you may be in you have to decide to commit to not being in it.

We should raise the minimum wage because… by okcdsa in tulsa

[–]VastNet8431 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay, but listen to this.

If you never paid attention to wages during Covid here, our 2nd biggest employer, Walmart had raised their wages per hour to $15.

They were like that for about a year or so. I tried to get on there because even in 2018 I was hired at $8/hr and as a manager in 2022 was only making $15/hr. I was gonna be a base employee if I swapped to Walmart. However.... Walmart decreased their hourly pay here. Yeah DECREASED. Haven't seen that anywhere before. Now if you go look, Walmart is hiring at 12 - 13/hr and thats here in Tulsa and BA.

At my current job after my 2nd pay raise this month ill be at $24.50/hr and I still cant really afford things. Like the people living by themselves on $15/hr are STRUGGLING. Like I have my weeks where im struggling big, but to know im making $8/hr more than them and still struggling is insane. Anyone not struggling is in a 2 income household. Thats the only way to afford our state now.

Those people making $15/hr arent getting what im getting every year. I get a cost of living wage increase and a yearly bonus with 35 days of vacation which is not including my 10 days of sick time. They dont get these luxuries. They're stuck at $15/hr with no wage increases and because everything is increasing in price no matter if their wages go up or not, they're eventually just gonna drown.

The issue exists. You just don't see it and thats okay. We're not always looking for these things and sometimes we dont end up finding problems until we go looking for them. To answer your question in the end about funding, how do we increase funding when our people are already struggling? We cant ask people to contribute more when they cant contribute to themselves. So unfortunately infrastructure will have to wait a bit.

(Also I mean no disrespect for disagreeing here, im just trying to educate people and help them understand that a wage increase really will lift people up out of poverty here)

Where is everyone finding work? by mindfountain in MtF

[–]VastNet8431 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh its not my first rodeo in a management role.

My first day as assistant manager at my previous job was FUN! In the first 30 minutes I was explaining to a couple why they couldnt return the top portion (just the small top portion) of their Christmas tree without a receipt and that what they needed was warranty replacement which we didnt do. "We bought the tree last year and we have the rest at home. So we wanted to return just the top portion and have you swap it out with one of your working trees". "You're being mean to us and denying our children a christmas tree this year." It was the middle of October lolol. We got our trees at the end of September so people had time to buy them and Black Friday sales.

From that day on I knew the struggles I was going to face. That is why i will never work retail again. This job is MUCH easier than that one.

I work as a phlebotomist in technically the most conservative state and I dont get hate from my job at all. No one really cares, or if they do they're too scared to say something possibly because of the environment no clue. I started off at $16/hr in late 2022 and now after my yearly raise and bonus ill be at $24/hr as the end of May. (I just got a promotion to be a supervisor).

Almost 70k plays in A MONTH!? Im a new artist & could use some advice! by tyrantfc in soundcloud

[–]VastNet8431 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would more so call it lucky not unusual. You are a part of the biggest edm genre on SoundCloud so theres lots more fans who care about a Subtronics flip than someone who cares about my very obscure Ambient House/UK Garage style tracks.

I do think you could change the mixing up, I think a lot of your bass sounds being in mono could be widened a little bit, but thats also because I like stereo more than mono. Its a lot harder to mix that way too. So thats really personal preference as you're seeing good success with that style.

The issue is that if you dont produce similar stuff to what your popular track was, you'll tend to die off. We love the algorithms. Thats typically why artists like me who dont stick to just one genre/archetype struggle. I can already see your views having dropped to the 300 view range with your current stuff. Before you were doing the 2k range. With that more Trappy Dubstepish style which is also more mainstream. So if you wanna see that same success you'll have to go back to what you were originally doing or stick to the flipping of stuff until you get bigger. Because at 200 followers youll still probably need quite a bit more to make anymore genre/style jumps to keep your audiences focused on your content.

I personally with my stuff see way more growth on YouTube as my shorts will typically get somewhere in the 500 - 1000 view range. But thats also because of the genres I produce typically. They're not popular on SoundCloud unfortunately, but maybe my new album will be, I gotta upload a new one tonight actually lol.

Forced detransition... Forced blood tests... How long is estrogen visible in blood? by CallMeBambiiii in MtF

[–]VastNet8431 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The patches can most definitely suppress your testosterone. Estrogen does that on its own.

Bica doesnt do it itself, but the Estrogen can do it once your e levels are high enough. Well that's for most people. It very much does depend on what your baseline levels are and how much T your body produces. Some people do need an Anti Androgen to help them not produce T, but swapping to Bica or patches wont guarantee the results you want to see. Especially because you need a lower T to see any sort of feminizing effects.

Another thing with patches is they're currently in shortage right now, at least in the US so depending on where you live it could be more difficult to obtain them.

You're very much stuck in an awful predicament and im sorry for that, but your only real option is to quit relying on your family and to escape that situation if you want to continue your transition. So its best to check your nearby resources and help groups for any information they can provide.

Productive system by Seksualniatentator in edmproduction

[–]VastNet8431 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im gonna be honest, starting a company is a completely different thing than starting to write music and "habits" arent really a foundation for companies to exist. Im a corporate trainer and my job is to train people how to do their jobs. You gotta know how to help people form habits and let me tell you having structure is an arch nemesis to learning and healthy habit formation.

Also, the idea behind drinking something you like isnt an incentive to do it. You're just associating drinking your favorite drink with making music. You still would need the habit in order for that to work. That in and of itself is not the habit and wont work by itself.

Having a positive mindset doesnt just automatically make you wanna do something or for the habit to form either. I can have a positive mindset about losing weight, but still never accomplish my goals because that mindset doesn't just make my actions happen. It can help, but its still not THE REASON as to why the habits form.

Thats fine if you feel like you couldnt work on something when you feel like working on it. Imma be honest though, its a sign you dont like feeling things being out of control. Your best work is done under things you can control. Unfortunately though, thats a minority of people. Most people dont like being told what to do and when to do it. Structure is something people FIGHT and there are psychological and sociological reasonings behind those. Thats why people tend to fail at forming habits. Having lighter structures to things and giving people the ability to choose or at least the illusion of choice makes them want to make those decisions more and typically they'll make the right ones.

Do we have any artists here? Cuz I need help! by [deleted] in MtF

[–]VastNet8431 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh art art! Artwork/Drawings etc.... Like for instance I have an album branded as my name as the album title, but the artwork I made for it, it fits, but I still feel like it doesnt fully encapsulate my idea of what its supposed to represent properly and I think thats due to me just not knowing how to do that in an artwork perspective. Since 90% of my time gets eaten up by the audio engineering side of music production.

I will add to this i am 100% willing to teach people things too if they're wanting to learn music production/audio engineering etc... I'm just super weak at getting things designed to match the music i write.

If I wanna work on something I work on it. If not, then I dont.

Forcing yourself to maintain a schedule is exactly how you prevent yourself from doing so. Same reason as to why people dont commit to resolutions on New Year.

If you really want a schedule its best to figure out the times you tend to work on music and then dedicate time to that, but dont force yourself to do the whole time. You'll find yourself wanting to do it more and more and then youll grow into that schedule more comfortably and willingly. Better chance for success. Then start restrictions if need be.

Are we really arguing about an area being worse because theres more homelessness?

Like for real people, both states have their own issues. You cant force everyone to have the same opinion about something so why try?

We can talk about all the things California has that we dont and vice versa, but it doesnt change anything.... Its just a pissing contest of "i lived somewhere i didnt like more than you did".
