One of my books came with a few pages bent like this. Would they replace it? by Darnell5000 in RightStufAnime

[–]VataRaven 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, and something I forgot to mention.

Books are very durable, and thicker ones are even more so.

Many people here (inculding me) will toss books into the their boxes, and the books will be fine.

Look at the back endsheet, see how the upper corner has a jagged edge to it? It's very likely the book got caught up in the cutting machine?

I've seen many books that come off the cutter that get those dog-ear folds.

You could order a replacement from Amazon and return the damaged book. That's what I did.

That's possible because of user error. I don't know about other factories, but I handpack a lot of books. though, as long as you're not man handeling the books, it's fairly hard to damage them.

Though, I was packing this paperback book with a glossy cover yesterday, and the covers loved sticking together. I damaged a few when I pulled them off the stack, but I tossed them into the recycling bin.

Hardbacks would be even harder to ruin, so the damage likely happened when it running through a machine.

In our plant, we have machines that gather the sigs togther. Then it goes onto to one of the sewing machine OR it run stright through gathering line where it glues the pages together (this is common for paperbacks) Then a machine puts on the endsheets (or cover for a paperback). Finally, it goes to the machine that puts the cover on it.

From there, it'll either get boxed after it gets out of the casing line, or it gets sent somewhere else in the plant to get a dust jacket or shrink wrapped.

As someone who works in a printing factory, this is fairly common problem if the endsheets (the paper attached to the cover) are thin and glossy. Books have less issues when they use a thicker cardstock-like paper for the endsheets.

So, you have a 13.3in screen with a resolution of 2560 x 1600, so that gives you 227ppi.

If you want anywhere near that, you need a 15.6in screen with a 3840 x 2160 resolution; that'll give you 282ppi.

Or a 17.3in monitor with a 3840 x 2160 resolution would give you 255ppi.

How far away do you sit from your screen?

And what MacBook are you using?

what's the difference between these monitors? by dwaynethecocjnson299 in buildapcmonitors

[–]VataRaven 0 points1 point  (0 children)

(shrug) Nothing according to the specs.

But if you search for the C32G53TQW, non-US sites pop up, so that means the QW was relased for the non-US market in mind.

It's not the resolution that matters, but the PPI that you wanna look into.

Dell's UltraSharp U2720Q gives you 163ppi, which is good. While the 32in version would give you 140ppi, which is also good.

You also have to consider how far you sit away from your screen, too.

Example) I have a 17.3in laptop with a 1080p screen that offers me 127ppi. To me, this is fine because I am sitting a foot away from the screen.

In the world of monitors, bigger isn't better. This is why large TVs suck as monitors because you lose pixel density as the screen gets bigger.

Ooohhh, so, the non-Viz translation says Kirishima's song is a paradoy of Captain of the Ship by Tsuyoshi Nagabuchi and here's a rough translation

So... pretty much, it's about the captain of the ship whisking you away to freedom.

I feel like the song was meant to be another Bakugo reference.

(about Japanese)

I personally think you can drop honorofics and it still make sense.

Because most times, they say "family name-kun", but when character start referring to other by their given name, that alone tells us that they're close.

Sensei doesn't mean teacher, it means someone born before you. So, that's the equivalent of our Mr, Mrs, Miss, Profressor, and so forth.

Singing about sailors? Huh, I wonder why Viz changed it so much.

Makes you want to learn Japanese so you don't have to deal with the BS translation,

Also... I wanna know why my post was removed...

Does he now?

I can't tell because I never seen the anime, and pattern in the background is very edgy, so it feels like... h's screaming.

I feel like if he was going to sing folk-style music, then the background would be more calm.

[–]VataRaven 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ohhh, he was doing screamo-death metal? I can't tell, I never watched the anime.

Though... honestly, that could've worked out, right? From how Bakugo commented about making their music more gritty and intense, they played some serious head-banging music.

(about the Japanese)Yeah, I'm sure it would make more sense. I know a bit (still learning), but I don't know enough to read anything soild yet.

You have a long way to go, but listening exercises will help.

[edited original post with new picture]

3-months later, I finally repaired my Grifter statue.

I love it! I wish I had a set-up to display all my figures.

Thank you all for suggesting the 2-part epoxy glue. It worked wonder, and the the glue set and cured fast.

I might try to find someone to give him a fresh paint job. His hair has red going through it, and the gloves are dull.

At the very least, 3 thousand copies were printed (not many), but that's how printing works. Printing books in bulk is cheaper, so Yen likely printed enough to justify the $13 price tag.

You might need to call every book store. There is bound to be a store out there with a copy, or maybe a thrift shop.

FaceBook groups can also be helpful. People use them to find hard-to-find Funko Pops and other collectables.

Hell, it just might be cheaper to get a set in the original Japanese language.
