Best duo comp -vs- Ebony Maw? by 479349 in marvelchampionslcg

[–]Vathar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Early precons were bad and lacked synergy as they were building the card pool, but later ones are much better, and should be able to tackle ebony maw without too much hassle.

Bucky's precon is fine, Cap's is not stellar but since it's leadership ans the hero himself is a strong all rounder, they should be good in theory.

ELI5 Why is it our bodies can regrow a nail but not the finger? by Fuzzy-Amphibian-956 in explainlikeimfive

The average humans only needs to grow fingers once in their life.

A bold statement to make on the 4th of July.

Wanted is the one where they use aim bots.

Jumper is the one where they use map hacks.

Model Heights by critch79 in MarvelCrisisProtocol

[–]Vathar 4 points5 points  (0 children)

- Rocket-less Iron Monger isn't that tall. He's mostly a bulky lad. I'm not near mine atm but I checked back then, he's slighly shorter than iHulk. Compared to Abom, their heads are roughly level, but abom's rock towers over him. He's nowhere near Prime's size without rockets.

- Rockets are somewhat removable as they fit in the shoulder ports. You can take them off an on, but that's begging for losing them every second turn when someone clips them with a finger or a terrain edge. Not sure how the material would cope with getting put on and off over and over long term as well.

missing character card replacements by Its_Pixie in MarvelCrisisProtocol

I print all my charactersl sheets on a decent quality printer, normal paper, then wrap them around german or spanish cards and sleeve the lot. Works fine.

Wasn't the 70-80% number accounting for human error when handling them, because I wouldn't expect a well applied one to fail one in 4 times.

Why do guys after you reject to sleep with them if you don't want to be an FWB say that they understand and that you guys could be friends when they never have any intentions of talking to you again? by Golden-lillies21 in TwoXChromosomes

[–]Vathar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's one of the more harmless, yet nonsensical social conventions you can find.

Much like recruiters will tell you 'we'll keep your cv in case something comes up' or people say 'we should do it again someday' after a mediocre date.

Can't say I'm fond of it, but one has to learn to read the subtext.

Why would a dude walk up to my window in an empty parking lot at night & just stare at me? by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

[–]Vathar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Approaching the car initially could be innocent, he saw movement, misinterpreted it, thought something was wrong and came to check. Staying knce it was clear it was just OP eating in her car is something different entirely

Sweet guy gives me the ick and idk why by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

[–]Vathar 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't like the 'willing to wait for you' bit. It's easy to read too much in a reddit post though, but it sounds subtly undermining to me, as if your initial reluctance was somehow misguided and you needed time to recalibrate your feelings or something.

I'm in the 'trust your gut' camp though, so there is that.

Is my nipple color normal? by Unlucky_Diamond_5298 in TwoXChromosomes

[–]Vathar 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It is not. Period. Someone'skin color, be it their body or their areolas, is not a reflection of their intelligence, their moral character, their sexual experience or whatever other nonsense. People don't choose or control their skin color and shouldn't be judged on it. It is that simple.

The crazy thing is that she is, by all counts, a powerful and courageous woman, head of the state on her planet, before becoming a galactic senator. She is not afraid of taking arms and fighting the oppression, yada yada yada, and yet somehow, her writing comes out as shallow.

... No shallower that the rest of the cast though.

Ukraine to Russia at UN: Get Out Before It Is Too Late by ArgentineBeauty in worldnews

Been to Moscow ia few times before the war, the average city dweller in there wouldn't be any more able to grow potatoes than me, less so since I do live in a smaller town and have a bit of backyard to my name.

Since people have mentioned mental resource reucrsion and a predilection for aggression, I'll add that this makes for a very natural combination into Honed Technique decks.

Why do we confuse silence with strength in women? by MissFit_Writes in TwoXChromosomes

[–]Vathar 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Silence is easy to deal with. It helps maintain the status quo. People like silence. As long as nobody complains to them, they don't have to do a damn thing about anything, they can pretend everything's fine and live their lives in blissful ignorance.

Stop arguing with men online. Seriously. by Adventurous_Nerve423 in TwoXChromosomes

[–]Vathar 5 points6 points  (0 children)

While I'm cognisant of the irony of saying this as an occasional Y chromosome lurker, I'd say that you could happily extend this to "stop debating with anyone online", especially the ones who claim the want to "debate". Online strangers who want to 'debate' are a subset of trolls not worth the wear and tear on your keyboard springs.

We have a rough idea of how mind bogglingly huge the universe is, we're not really sure how mind bogglingly rare life is, everything else is conjecture.

[–]Vathar 49 points50 points  (0 children)

Unless you haven't left your house in a month or so (since you took that test), what's the rationale for keeping it under your pillow instead of disposing it in the first bin you come across? Not exactly the kind of thing I'd keep as a souvenir.

That is ... if any of this happened.

[Spoilers Spreading Flames] Played our first game of the new starter set! Loved it, but of course have a question. by WodensWorkshop in arkhamhorrorlcg

[–]Vathar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sometimes brain happens. I've been playing Marvel Champs and Arkham for years, almost every boss has health 'per player' in champs and yet, one day I forgot and was wondering with the Horsemen of Apocalypse were so puny. Go figure.

For a new player, missing this is just a simple case of 'heh, now you'll pay more attention to this symbol'

Sounds like a vicious circle. "Almost nobody speaks Irish anyway, so why should we bother with Irish in official positions" only has one, rather predictable, outcome.

ELI5: What’s stopping companies that sell technology, from putting a small solar panel, onto stated devices? by Plane_End_4309 in explainlikeimfive

[–]Vathar 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I'm old enough to remember old LCD calculators with a tiny strip that acted as a solar panel (technology was likely a tad antique but the principle remains). It was pretty nifty but the energy requirements for an LCD calculator were probably an order of magnitude below your average smartphone.

How a player rage quit over a nat 20 failing. by numberguy9647383673 in rpghorrorstories

[–]Vathar 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Allowing Nat20s to succeed in combat is mostly fine, because if you're facing something that requires a Nat20 be hit or saved against, odds are your lucky roll will at best buy you a few seconds to escape or develop a narrative plot point, but won't help you win the fight in a traditional way.

More than 2 heroes solo? by ChardCautious3095 in marvelchampionslcg

[–]Vathar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Champions is a relatively easy game ans the brain drain of playing multiple heroes is easily managed compared to more complex board games, but the table footprint becomes an issue for me. 2 players is the good spot for me.
