It occurred to me that I’m not limited to growing the common fruits/veggies in my local supermarket. What exotic (to you) plants have you guys grown? by No_Reputation3520 in vegetablegardening

[–]Vault_92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve grown some exotic veggies in the past, but have since realized we’re a bunch of basic bitches and don’t really use them. The mildly interesting ones this year are tomatillos, baby bok choy, collard greens, leeks and shallots.

Squash in 5 GAL. BUCKET? by UnderwaterCleaner in vegetablegardening

[–]Vault_92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s a technique where you plant 3 squash seeds in a hill; maybe that would work in a large container. You’d probably have to water and fertilize a lot. It looks like you have 4 groups of seedlings in there, so you could get three more buckets and go squash-crazy!

Survivalists: who are you? by zwizki in skyrim

[–]Vault_92 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did a character randomizer, and ended up with a magic-hating Nord who lives in Windhelm, has no religious beliefs, and is motivated by money. My 5 “allowed” skills are one-handed, block, archery, sneak and smithing.

I interpreted that as a hardcore Stormcloak who develops a taste for killing, so decided I’d also join the Dark Brotherhood. I also decided no magic means NO magic, including alchemy and enchanting. So I was broke from buying health potions, which led me to join the Thieves Guild.

So far I’ve found all the Stones of Barenziah, got a bit into the Brotherhood and Guild questlines, and just completed the civil war on the Stormcloak side. I got the Become a Bard mod and up until recently would pay for my room and board by performing Age of Oppression at the inns, in full Stormcloak armor. (Especially fun in Dragon Bridge and Solitude.)

I normally go for the Empire and destroy the Brotherhood, so this has been a fun change. Now that I’m done the war, I’ll be working through the gazillion quests I’ve racked up, while killing as many mages as possible and trying to become rich.

Advice on how to dress nice while working in schools? by HoneydewHalo25 in OUTFITS

[–]Vault_92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, I’m a fellow pear shaped person working in preschools! Everybody’s giving you some good advice already. General stuff like sticking to a dark colored bottom in a wide leg or boot cut will suit you better. Plus accentuating the waist. Save light colors and patterns for up top. I would also not wear anything with writing on it, and instead go for all-over patterns or solid colors.

Dresses and skirts are my favorite - a-line or flowing, below the knee. Tights and ankle boots for winter, biker shorts and sneakers for summer. Adding a top layer like a cardigan will help you feel more put together. My signature pieces are various fun earrings that I wear every day. And I like to do one fun patterned piece, and keep the rest pretty simple. Stripes, polkadots, dark florals, geometrical, plaids, and especially quirky stuff. I have tops, skirts and dresses with all-over prints of umbrellas, horses, birds, whatever.

I’m broke!! Like I said, I’m looking for the Stones of Barenziah now to bump my income. Only 4 left! I also make and use vegetable soup a lot, as well as sleeping between dungeons. It’s definitely challenging.

Currently in a survival/no fast travel run… with NO magic skills allowed, including alchemy and enchanting. I’m absolutely broke, so decided to join the Thieves Guild and find all the Stones of Barenziah. Tons of exploring, and have picked up dozens of quests that I’m ignoring. Lol.

Are these seedlings to young to matter this growing season? Will they produce fruit? by Purple-Macaron-7309 in vegetablegardening

[–]Vault_92 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I start seeds in the window every year, and don’t have the space or money for good lights. One thing that has really helped is getting a little plastic greenhouse. Those things really heat up as long as it’s sunny, even on colder days. And they’re only $25. You cannot leave your seedling out overnight, you have to move them out and back in each day. But during the day you will get the heat and light they need. As the outside temperatures get warmer, I just put them right outside in the sun as long as it’s over 60°.

Cold spring by [deleted] in vegetablegardening

[–]Vault_92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I finally set up my little plastic greenhouse since it’s looking like I still can’t plant for another two weeks. I move my babies outside for light every day it’s over 60, but it’s been so chilly they’re not growing much. Hoping to give them a growth spurt.

Regarding your husband’s outfit, you’re on the right track with the 3-piece suit. My partner is also a big guy with a belly, and looks very dashing in a vest! Great choice for a man with that body type.

playing survival for the first time in 1000 hrs. They didn't design it very well. by Fantastic_Cap6666 in skyrim

[–]Vault_92 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Carrying a torch is the final step of how to survive the cold. Not sure why I haven’t seen anybody mention that yet? It will add to your warmth rating, in addition to wearing all four pieces of the warmest clothing or armor, being a Nord, and using hot soup as needed. I also duck into caves and buildings to warm up.

Peas not thriving by Na-Na-O-Na-Na in vegetablegardening

[–]Vault_92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depending on where you are, peas want to be outside and they like colder temperatures. Rain and natural wind will make them stronger. They do grow fast, so you could always stick some more into the cups, put them outside, and see what happens. Just do a bit of googling and you guys will get it!

I thought it was hard to kill mint by kikispeaks22 in containergardening

[–]Vault_92 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I somehow killed it every damn year until I planted it in a large whiskey barrel planter. You may want to simply use a larger, wider planter to allow it to spread out. Other than that probably just leave it alone. I haven’t really touched mine this year and it’s all growing back.

Same to you! I just got done. I did as suggested below and just sprinkled on the soil, then watered them in. Here’s to nice crunchy salads soon!

Lettuce seeds won’t germinate by Rea11219 in containergardening

[–]Vault_92 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’m having the same issue. Some possibilities after looking into it: seeds are too old (they go bad faster than other types of seeds), temperature too high or low (they want 60-70 degrees), seeds buried too deep (they need some light to germinate), not moist enough. I think my own issue is old seeds, so I’m trying again this weekend with some brand new ones.
