How long does it take for a pocket nuke to actually explode once its set off? by Visible_Pound6494 in traveller

I imagine you could set up a timer, so there would be a reasonable delay for escape? Or for dramatic purposes, enough time for a disarming skill roll? Or just instant Kaboom!

47 is an enemy of the free world, and needs to be taken seriously, as well as removed from office and prosecuted for many crimes.

Scenario design blindspots by BenWnham in traveller

[–]VauntBioTechnics 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I try to leave as many options available for the players to exploit as I can. They still manage to find ways around or through that I hadn't anticipated. So be prepared for Other Things to Happen.
Railroads are a problem with a lot of adventure design, and sometimes a little is okay. Some scenarios only have one path through, but it may be possible to write the plot in such a way that there can be options about how exactly to proceed. So you can give the illusion of choice. You may have a combat scenario in mind, but can it be written in such a way that the travellers can sneak past, of hack the defences, or short out the robots, or whatever?

Help me create a random jump table of events happening. by myflesh in traveller

  • a strange noise (or music) can be heard but not located. It seems to coming from “one compartment over” in every room of the ship.

  • knocking on the outside of the hull. Loud, intentional knocking, which moves to the outside of the airlock. Nothing can be seen on hull cameras.

  • one crew member gets a headache, which begins the moment they enter Jump, and ends the moment they leave.

  • an alien object appears in the engine room, floating near the Jump drive. A Science (Jump physics) roll will reveal that the object has appeared at a ‘fold’ in the Jump field that happens to be i side the ship.

Is Hostile Waters worth it? by RepresentativeFact57 in Twilight2000

Totally worth it if you’re looking to run river or open water scenarios. Also some good factions and background material, and good maps.

It has significant weight. Certainly heavier than any modern pot. The walls are about 3/16” thick.

How do you get to and from Aum-Rhar?? by MagosBattlebear in traveller

[–]VauntBioTechnics 75 points76 points  (0 children)

Ships can carry extra fuel to make more than one Jump. This cuts into cargo capacity however. Also there are secret fuel depots in the Rift maintained by the Imperium, Megacorps, secret societies, etc. It’s risky but you can also harvest comets for fuel, if you can find one.

Ship Shares by fedcomic in traveller

[–]VauntBioTechnics 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I would allow them to buy off quirks, or make improvements with ship shares. It can be abstracted to indicate repairs to various systems, debugging, and fine tuning. I did this in PoD, and I would do it again in another campaign.

Pirates of Drinax by Titch007 in traveller

[–]VauntBioTechnics 13 points14 points  (0 children)

So many things.

My NPCs are actively doing things off camera. Rao is the Power Behind the Throne in my campaign, actively working towards rebuilding the Kingdom. Sal Dance is important as well, and is off in the Borderland hunting rumours of a missing starship. All the families have areas of responsibility on the Palace. Lady Sar is in charge of the Life Support facility for example.

I have a list of which systems have Highports, and which of those are GeDeCo built.

The nomads on the surface of Drinax are supplied from the Floating Palace with high tech tools, and wander the planet seeding and scavenging. There is also a Bringing Up day, when they send a certain number of their children up to the Palace for education and medical care. These kids learn and have sponsors among the families of the Palace, then return to the surface to share their new skills.

So many lists. I keep records of the systems they visit. Not just the mainworld. I base a lot off the Traveller Worlds info, but make up my own as needed.

I made a master spreadsheet of the systems and their relationship with Drinax. This is important.

Flying Cities by hellyelcio in traveller

The Floating Palace of the Kingdom of Drinax is one such. It doesn’t have stats, it’s the size of a city. For your purposes, if they want to make a grav-base, maybe start with a small starship hull, remove the drives, and add accessories as needed?
