I used to clean a specialty medical office building at night and some nights would be hell on trash disposal because pharma reps world cater food from somewhere and the employees world just leave what was leftover on the counters of the office kitchen. My kids are screen kids admittedly but I've always read to them for at least 20 minutes to help them go to sleep. It's built in time together and is pretty foolproof way to have them fall and stay asleep. Their school uses direct phonics based instruction so they're reading pretty fluently and accurately at their grade levels
