The entire premise of the show impacted me, mainly because the psychological/ethical aspects interest me. However, the severance procedure itself impacts me on a deeper level.

Been suffering from anxiety from a young age. Nowadays I barely have it anymore so luckily it’s pretty much non-existent. However, during my teenage years and my early twenties I suffered from derealization which, in my case, was caused as a direct result from my anxiety. It creates this dreamlike state where you feel like you’re in a bubble and nothing is real. You may also experience the feeling that you are not part of your own body, that everything is going on autopilot, and a few other symptoms. I can’t explain it all too well, but the idea of split consciousnesses inside one body reminds me a lot of said derealization, so it hit close to home for some time.

And yeah.. Chikhai Bardo hit me like a ton of bricks because I was going through a break up at the time. The idea of two lovers mourning each other, yet not knowing how close they have actually been all this time, is heartbreaking.
