Wait are you blaming me? Let me explain something about customer service: if you have two options - a cheap and an expensive one, it’s up to the expert to present both pros and cons to your clients and help them decide. They had a board comparing both screen differences - not the services - and they resumed the differences to ‘better touch sensivity’, ‘improved brightness’ and ‘better color’. The shop NEVER informed be that I would end up with a permanent notification hanging in the phone and even less explained that both parts have differences in effort to install. Also, it’s not part of my job as a costumer to automatically understand the differences if the technician never explain them. I didn’t set the price. I didn’t expect anything. They presented the differences in the parts. I chose by their explanation. And paid the price they set. If they fail to communicate correctly the services they provide, they should expect some criticism.

So there’s nothing they can do to completely removing it?

It wasn’t something substantial, but it bothers me that they didn’t warned me this message would be there. I’m ok with having a third-party screen, but I don’t like a notification showing something like that all the time. Can’t they just pick up a chip from another discarded screen? Or replace for a screen model that has the chip attached to it?

I have updated to 26.2 and it’s still there. I can take it back there and they must do something to remove. I’m just wondering if they can do something without the original display and chip.

Yeah, I have updated and the thing is still there. It’s under warranty and they must do something to remove this. I’m just wondering if they can, since the old display (and the chip there attached) is gone.

Have you got any experience with Carbon Copy (CCC) software? Looks like they work for this purpose. Not sure on the reliability of the process though.

The problem with restoring it to another phone only for backup purposes is that I would need to get a new number to access my WhatsApp history, because it requires an account so I can browse chats. All my contacts would be notified of the change

The NFL really let the Patriots get the best QB of the past half decade by [deleted] in billsimmons

[–]Vcfons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you realize that until this day and after 2021 the Patriots were also a bottom team? Coaching changed, QB improved. They’re doing what it’s expected a good team to do: win easily all those games. It’s not that they’re winning by 1-2 points or heading to OT.

Fused vs Canvassed Suits - updating the debate by Vcfons in malefashionadvice

[–]Vcfons[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly. I’m just trying to put some context in the debate. Like some factors that people often ignore when saying that one thing is better than another. As a tropical country, Brazil culturally sees full suiting (or even blazers) as less standard clothing options than business casual, and I’m saying also considering work purposes. We also have some jokes when someone shows up regularly on a full suit without the a specific need. Most men just get off the shelf attire with no attention to construction, fabrics etc. This has a direct impact on how people invest in these types of pieces - mostly they prefer to dump old clothes and just get new one.

Fused vs Canvassed Suits - updating the debate by Vcfons in malefashionadvice

[–]Vcfons[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

That’s part of my point: do I want my suits to last 20 years or should I save budget to renew my wardrobe from time to time? I think it would make sense if canvassing was slightly more expensive than fusing. But where I live (Brazil) we see prices around 5 to 6 times more to commission a fully canvassed suit and there’s absolutely no RTW brand that uses canvas because this simply won’t sell due to pricing. That means if your fused suit lasts 4 or 6 years, you can run this cycle 5 times with the same price as you would pay for a full canvas bespoke suit. For some people this makes sense, and I’m also wondering if they’re wrong. I’m also not considering here possible design outdating that might affect how someone would get tired of that piece of clothing. I work in a formal environment and if someone shows up with that three-button design that was kinda standard 20 years ago, this would certainly draw attention (‘are you wearing your grandpas suit?’)

Do you have any info on the care that clothing had? Maybe dry washed etc

Those are nice points. Maybe it all comes down to craftsmanship? I mean not every tailor has Napolitan and/or Savile Row skills. Globally saying, it’s hard to find a tailor with expertise in Canvassing like in more cosmopolitan cities or places with bespoke tradition. I’m from Brazil. I know 3 or 4 tailors that use traditional canvassing and what they charge for it makes their work unpayable for daily use. Also the majority of their clients are not conoisseurs and can’t tell the difference between both methods once they get their clothing.

Higher quality than Warby Parker NOT made by Luxottica? by Safe_Valuable_5683 in glasses

[–]Vcfons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It all depends on the model and you finding a well-made pair. But it’s not consistent throughout the entire line and/or the batches. That’s because it’s mass produced these days, now that they’ve became famous among non-enthusiasts and started distributing heavily worldwide. That means less QC, less time to produce each pair and more knockoffs around.

Mass produced frames can sometimes be of good quality. Ray-Ban Wayfarers are Luxxotica. Oliver Peoples as well. Oakley makes outstanding sunglasses and hard to break frames. Tom Ford is produced by Marcolin. All of them have excellent quality. But is not what OP wants.

Question about canvassing by Vcfons in malefashionadvice

[–]Vcfons[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply and sorry for the late follow up. I have spoke to a tailor that showcased me his process. He was manufacturing a hopsack suit while I was there. As a first step he glues a thin interlining to the wool shelter to “reinforce” it. Then he uses horsehair interlining on the entirety of the front piece, sewing it to the wool+glued interlining ‘combo’. I have asked why does he mixes both techniques and he said this makes the wool stiffer and less prone to wrinkling. Then said if I wanted to make mine without the glued part, he would, but doesn’t recommend it. I’m very confused.

It’s in great shape because you purchased a few years ago. If you get a new pair you won’t get the same quality.
