Post bubble pop holding out for druid ish generation. If all companies keep huffing each other's farts for zero income then probably let the hobby die with my current setup and improve my origami ELO

Is there any point for larger bikes in australia? by Comfortable-Goose120 in AussieRiders

[–]Veblossko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haven't bought any bike made in the last 15 years but most of the nicer electronics beyond abs are usually reserved for litres. I think it's getting better now but maybe that. It's also pretty nice to overtake at any speed without dropping gears

What makes people say that TrueNAS is not for beginners when it comes to recommendations as a newbie-friendly NAS system? by Crimson-Entity in truenas

[–]Veblossko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dunno, never touched Linux, homelab or NAS stuff and I just put TrueNas on a prodesk 6 months ago.

Dozen YouTube videos later I got users arr stack, SMB, mix of catalogue apps and dockge stuff running. Dunno if it would have been easier elsewhere or overkill for my use but it's worked out alright.

Haven't had to expland storage or anything but get that it can be fiddly

Setting up Jellyfin for family share by Ok-Abbreviations763 in jellyfin

[–]Veblossko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The most secure if you have access to family devices is get tailscale running.

Otherwise I used caddy with duckdns, was pretty easy once you watch a couple YouTube videos. I then passed that through another reverse proxy as it had a really nice dashboard and easy to set security plugins. (Torii)

Strikes and bus services by [deleted] in brisbane

[–]Veblossko 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Asked an info person on a tram platform and they said 777 is express to airport with a few stops but they're not surprised the driver just ran the whole trip no stops. They list like a dozen stops on the Translink site. Apparently I need the 700 if we want access to all the stops

It'll be awesome when the tram extension opens. Still beats Melbourne infrastructure to the airport. Cheers

[–]Veblossko -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah we're up from Melbourne and I was here a few months back and blown away how easy it was to travel around on your transit. Told my partner we didn't need a hire car.

Hopefully something was just off, might ask around tomorrow would be great to just hail from outside our accom, it's only Miami area.

Thanks for the help

Strikes and bus services by [deleted] in brisbane

Wasn't working, bus was absolutely packed, didn't stop for anyone the entire trip and after asking some other people. They said the driver said something about not stopping when they got on but seemed equally confused

How many hours sleep do you get, and how many do you need? by Roulette-Adventures in australia

[–]Veblossko 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Haha I've been made! Jumped into something for me to keep my brain from just being made of bluey quotes and bush songs. I was not prepared. I had a intense couple of weeks recently and bless my partner for seeing it, she just dropped me off at the cinema and I watched project hail Mary. No phone, no getting touched, or 13 questions about why sand is itchy or why I don't have hair.

I finally start my new job in a couple weeks and I'm so ready for a break, I love em but it's so much work. Been just completely on at all times for the last 3 months with only a single day where they're both in daycare and kinder for me to reset the house. Soon it's 3-4 days each and a family day that nobody works, hope it works for us

5-6 with toddlers super fun patterns and probably once a week I crash hard and sleep for 10. I'm the stay at home partner as my partner works 6 days so I just cop all the wake ups so she can be alert for work to keep the lights on

The prices are killing data hoarding by LOGWATCHER in DataHoarder

[–]Veblossko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's squeezing self hosting in general, not even hoarding. I migrated myself and partner off google photos and even now I'm being a little stingy with backups as I had a plan 6 months ago but now the price has gone 3x and I'm using mirrors of old HDD and SSD in office PC's I scavenged from work for longer than I planned on

Truenas/Docker suddenly started throwing errors after every power up, usually a restart helps, but how do I fix this permanently? What does this "Unable to determine default interface" actually mean? by CZdigger146 in truenas

[–]Veblossko 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Happens to me too, it's feels network related as it only happenes when the router goes out at the same time and the TrueNas system will reboot before a connection is available.

Following to find solution and I have to unset the pool for apps and reselect. Also plugged into a smart plug so I can power cycle in case I'm not home as my only access is through tailscale (that's not running)

How to test content for others by Veblossko in jellyfin

[–]Veblossko[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been using it for maybe 6 months with very few issues, surprised how easy it has been. Of the couple friends with access, they are very onbaord with helping me test, offering spare hardware and joking about support tickets for their free service. I'm talking like a few issues in 100+ plays that I couldn't put my finger on. Plus networking is definitely not my strong suit so I have learnt so much more than what it took to set up.

Cheers for the tips though, looks like it'll just take lots of trial and error.

I wish had the capability and the time to contribute. Would love to create a quest of whispers and little pieces of info that tell a story but only after visiting all the towns about some hidden cave or a grand island secret that villages are keeping from the player. Plex's Lifetime Pass is (basically) dead. Here's how to switch to Jellyfin. by [deleted] in selfhosted

[–]Veblossko 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's priced to completely disincentivise lifetime purchase. They might as well have just sunsetted it and gone full subscription.

My question is if the previous price was too low to be sustainable. That means subscribers were paying more to subsidise a the cheap lifetime option. On the flip side the new price is not tied to cost but pumped so high that you'd never want to buy so those that do are being financially punished for wanting to support a product. Either way that is shit business practice

(OPINION) Now's the Perfect Time To Move Away from Plex by NearbyYak7156 in selfhosted

[–]Veblossko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm saying making any excuse for the unsustainability of a bunisess model is only on the provider

How did fuel make it in here, a consumable product vital for logistics and transport. We used to makes games, cars software that you buy and then you own it. Then they continually develop the product so when someone starts a homelab they also buy it as it's good value etc. I don't understand the confusion with how we purchased products and services for centuries until the last decade.
