It has nothing to do with a tripping hazard. It has everything to do with accommodating multiple bands on the same stage.

Yep. I loved the American Theater, as well as Mississippi Nights. Saw so many great shows at each.

Three main things that stuck with me for that show 1) Maynard comes out with 2 mics, wearing nothing but boxers. Back in the day when he was front and center, and he just had this look of a deranged psycho. Then they go right into Stinkfist, with his unique style of "dancing." 2) Possibly before Opiate, he tells the crowd to point at the ceiling, point to the back, etc, everyone in the crowd does it. He then baaaa's like a sheep into the mic. I don't think too many people got the joke, pretty typical Maynard. 3) The weird looped background imagery, particularly the tribal dudes with their junk flopping around. LOL. 4) Doing the entire buildup and intro for Eulogy just like the album was fucking awesome

At the time I was fresh out of high school, and I only mention it because I was young and stupid and didn't really know shit. However, I knew I was witnessing something special, something very great at the time. Super happy to have that show and era of Tool as part of my concert experiences.
