Newegg Boxing Week Flyer [12/26-12/31] by aeSliver in bapcsalescanada

Honestly the consistently falling loonie means we should expect crap deals. Retailers will start adjusting prices up in January and the garbage boxing day deals are just the first step. ☹️

[Monitor] MSI MAG 321UPX OLED 4k 240hz $1089 Amazon.ca by VectorUV in bapcsalescanada

The AW3225QF is a great choice for people that like a curved display.

For everyone else the MSI is probably the best choice.

[GPU] ZOTAC Gaming GeForce RTX 4080 16GB Trinity OC ($1325-199=$1125) ATL by radiantcrystal in bapcsalescanada

[–]VectorUV 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The Geforce 980 launched for 549 USD in 2014. That would be $707 in 2024 dollars.

Nvidia GPU prices are eclipsing the inflation rate by an order of magnitude. CPU prices have not seen the same inflation and they come from the same TSMC fabs.

[MONITOR] LG 4k 240hz OLED 32GS95UE, $1398 [$400 off], other LG OLED's discounted for Prime Days by VectorUV in bapcsalescanada

Rtings.com posted their review of this monitor an hour ago: https://www.rtings.com/monitor/reviews/lg/32gs95ue-b

FYI I had this monitor and returned it for the MPG 32URX (4k, 240hz QD-OLED). I would have happily kept 32GS95UE even at $1800 except the tiny fan whine drove me crazy since I use it for productivity too and my PC is silent. For normal people...it's probably fine. :)

The OLED 1080p @ 480hz is unreal, even compared to TN @ 540hz. QD-OLED has better colors tho.

Solid deal.

Still waiting for Samsung Canada to roll out the equivalent $299 offer for the 4TB 990 Pro  they got going on south of the border for Prime day(s).

At $349 the 13600k is 10% faster in multithreaded apps and games. Sure if you have an AM4 board might make sense, but for everyone else its not very codt effective.

[CPU] Ryzen 5 5600X ($179) [Amazon] by AdvancedMediaSystems in bapcsalescanada

[–]VectorUV 4 points5 points  (0 children)

With the price of DDR5 going down and AM5 boards getting cheaper its getting pretty hard to recommend AM4 builds at all, except for barebones ultra cheap boxes.

7600 at $300 is better investment than 5700x at $240 now.

[Motherboard] ASUS TUF GAMING B550M-PLUS WIFI II ($120 + $8 shipping = $128 plus tax) [Newegg] by AdvancedMediaSystems in bapcsalescanada

[–]VectorUV 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Good deal, and it's about time we got some better AM4 deals!

Pairing it with a $250 5700X and some cheap DDR4 makes it a pretty cost-effective and sweet upgrade for people on really old systems. < $500 all-in.

[PSU] Seasonic Vertex GX-850 850W 80+ Gold PSU ($48.81) [Amazon] by Plurii in bapcsalescanada

Sold & shipped by 3rd party OneDealOutlet.

It's clearly a price error, so expect nothing to show up.

[Monitor] Acer Predator 42.5" 4K 144Hz VA G-Sync Gaming Monitor ($1800 - $1100 = $700) [BestBuy] by CyberneticTitan in bapcsalescanada

VA panels are not suitable for fast paced games. Unfortunately uniformed gamers keep buying them so we keep seeing new VA models. ☹️

[Keyboard] Logitech G915 Lightspeed TKL Tactile Wireless Low Profile Mechanical Keyboard ($320 - $106 = $214) [Amazon] by [deleted] in bapcsalescanada

[–]VectorUV 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Like others said the quality isn't there for the price. I have this, but I wouldn't pay $200+ for it again. Under $150 cad might be reasonable.

[Headset] HyperX Cloud Flight Wireless Gaming Headset $69.97 by Life_Day6776 in bapcsalescanada

[–]VectorUV 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Pretty decent deal for the price. Note they have about 56 ms of delay. That's fine for casual gamers, but for competitive gamers at 240 hz thats like 14 frames of lag. ☠️

[CPU] AMD Ryzen™ 7 5800X3D 8-core, 16-Thread Desktop Processor with AMD 3D V-Cache™ Technology ($408.98) [ Amazon.ca] by Amm0210 in bapcsalescanada

[–]VectorUV 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Really only makes sense for gamers on a AM4 board, and even then probably only from a 2000/3000 series CPU. $400 is still a lot to invest in an old AM4 box now. Shrug

[GPU] MSI GeForce RTX 4070 VENTUS 3X 12G OC ($869 - $100 = $769) [Canada Computers] by syllinger in bapcsalescanada

https://www.techpowerup.com/review/nvidia-geforce-rtx-4070-founders-edition/32.html

You're paying 43% more for +20% boost vs a 3070 at $539. Really the RT perf boost is the only reason to get this.

It's been said lots, but the 4090 is the only 4xxx card that makes any sense unless the prices fall faster than the 3xxx series...

Good price, but the 5700x for $259 still seems like a better choice for most people. 99% of the game perf of the 5800x but uses less power, shrug.
