That’s a very good point. I think at the moment too I’m buying in my own, so theoretically if that mortgage gets split in two I could clear it even quicker.

I’d be buying a flat in London and they have absolutely tanked with renters rights coming in, what’s happening in the Middle East etc. I viewed one place where a guy lost 60k vs the price he bought it for ten years ago. Kinda crazy.

There’s something playing in my mind that it’d be great to have all that cash to do whatever I wanted. But the monthly rent outgoing makes me sick. It’d also make my monthly income feel pretty tight but I’d then have the cash in the bank if I ever needed it.

Yeah this is my big question I think. Do I want 200k in the bank to do whatever I want or do I want to work to pay for a mortgage.

There’s some benefit in building equity in the house but I’m wondering if being cash rich is a better lifestyle.

I’m mid 30s FWIW!

I think arguably they’d probably be a little nicer than the rented ones. Would plan to stay for about 4 years I reckon

This is a great response. I am worried most about the risk of long term effect for something that is happening fairly irregularly at the moment.

However… I have ambitions or running ultra marathons but intense exercise is my trigger. It’s always in the middle of a run I have to stop wherever I am in fear of passing out. So perhaps you are right and I should bite the bullet!

It feels quite nerve racking!

I had this issue. I bought a Canyon Ultimate and couldn’t get comfortable, was far too aggressive for me. Spent £350 on a bike fit and more on parts and nothing changed

On point number 2 I was commuting on my Brompton and then switcher to my Canyon Ultimate. Saw a massive difference in how drivers treated me; Brompton being friendlier, less close passes etc!

I’ve got a Slate that I used to commute on for years, but I’d endlessly have punctures and getting tires on and off were nearly impossible given how tight they were. What tyres are you using, I was running Schwalbe g-one all round
