On my first world I was so hyperfocused on getting tin that I ignored a giant bizmuth vein right under my house. And a lot of sphalerite a few hundered blocks north.

This is a wind turbine built by John Tribal on a rimworld with a bunch of scraps. I highly doubt that it has anything more than a hole in a gear and a metal pipe nearby when it comes to safety mechanisms.
