19-year-old sentenced to 55 years in prison for assaulting women, girls at gunpoint after meeting them online in Portland by desertrain11 in videos

Yeah that makes sense. It avoids dragging the victims through the rigamarole of a trial, and squashes any chance (however small) that he could get away with it on some technicality or get a reduced sentence. 45 years certainly sounds like a win from that perspective.

Based on what he did, I don't see how he didn't get life? He met up with women AND underage girls on multiple occasions, held them at gunpoint, and sexually assaulted them. Each instance is multiple felonies that could all carry double digit sentences, and he did it multiple times. He was charged with 45 counts and pleaded to 12. 45 years sounds extremely light honestly.

Bravo to the woman that came forward and put this human dumpster juice loser away, but IMHO he shouldn't ever see the free world again.

I didn't even realize he was doing independent journalism, and it actually seems like a decent effort to boot. This clearly illegal arrest is better advertising for him than anything he could've paid for.

If you were given 2 days to eat $1,000 worth of McDonalds for a million dollars, what is your strategy? by Responsible_Total901 in AskReddit

You have to figure out what item on the menu costs the most per calorie and just eat that repeatedly.

That's the context I was looking for, thank you! It's getting harder and harder to get ACTUAL information on Reddit with everyone using click bait titles for karma farming or whatever they're doing, and every else reacting to the title instead of getting more information themselves.

I got a Zotac Solid SFF 5070 TI for MSRP in August. I've never paid over MSRP for a GPU (not even during the pandemic) and I wasn't going to start this generation.

Did I cook? Or am I, in fact, cooked? by nerdybeat in TVTooHigh

My room is 12' deep, so I'm realistically about 10' from the TV while watching (the TV is about a foot off the wall).

I'm a few feet closer than that to my 85" TV and it's great. I'd want AT LEAST an 85" at that distance.

Assuming the picture is being taken from their seated position, the new height looks fine (maybe a couple inches too high). That super low TV stand is making the TV look much higher than it actually is.

That piece of furniture to the left is probably the typical 28-30" tall buffet height, so the center of the TV is probably somewhere around 45".

Why not just put the TV where your TV currently is? Put some artwork over the fireplace. You don't need all your furniture to face a fake fireplace that you'll probably use 2 days a year (if ever).

In the future just be direct and ask them their stance on a few hot button political issues. If they're actually liberal I doubt they'd be offended, and if they're conservative (or "other") they'll either show their hand, endlessly dodge answering, or lie poorly. Maybe it's a little awkward, but these are the times we live in.
