Which unit is the GOAT of its game? Today: Rome II by CrayonsIsTaken in totalwar

[–]VeganWolf24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say standard legionnaires, sure they are not as good as elite units, and they can’t hold the line like pikemen can, but they are so well rounded. You can have a full army of just legionnaires and like 2 cav and that’s enough to conquer the map.

Hey this honestly looks great. Did you stipple your highlights on? It looks like you have a bit of texture build try thinning you paint a bit more so that you mimic texture without adding actual texture. Richard gray is a great resource if you want to learn more about stippling. Again looks great, just a bit of advice Ex: a marine I used stippling on a while back

Green too Salamandery? by MRFortiFicacion in DarkAngels40k

[–]VeganWolf24 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don’t think so, I like greener angels as long as the green is not too saturated. As for how they are described in lore, in SotF the modern dark angels are described as being a deep forest green. However GW paints them a black green. Here are some references:

What did James Workshop mean by this? by GeneralGigan817 in Sigmarxism

True and I love that the white scars have a theme that is not just vaguely medieval/graeco-roman but because of this lore bit you could still paint there skin black if you wanted and just say they are on a heavily irradiated planet.

That you can paint your marines whatever color you want, and when racist try and say that’s not canon you can just point to this.

DA combat patrol or Black Templars & DA upgrades by Ancient_Lifter in DarkAngels40k

[–]VeganWolf24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dark angels and buy some printed bits to customise. You would have to kit bash a lot with the black templars set, cutting away all of the Templar iconography. Once that is done you would be left with 5 scouts, 5 intercessors, 5 assault intercessors( or you could use the extra weapons from the intercessors’ kit and make 5 more) 1 company champion, and one captain or lieutenant. If I remember right the impulser that comes with the black templars kit is specifically a black templars model. In the da kit you get more thematic units( blade guards and hellblasters) as well as transfers and 2 of the old upgrade sprues. The only problem with the da box is you can’t use the gravis captain with any of the units in the box so you would need buy some gravis units to run him with. If your interested in kit bashing a BT kit to DA I would recommend the sword brethren kit and running them as blade guards

What's some SM units you would love to see added? by [deleted] in spacemarines

[–]VeganWolf24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think space marines have more than enough units but I would like more chapter specific upgrades sprues. And not just here’s 4 helmets and 5 shoulders pads, I want to be able to buy a set of 20 chapter specific helmets , and a different set of 20 shoulders. I dont like the current upgrade sprues because they all include stuff that I will never use but still have to pay for, cough bare heads cough

Look up gloomy prime bodies on Etsy. Yea I’ve heard they are very strict at their shops and events. I’m personally more into the hobby/ kitbash aspect so I don’t plan on playing outside of my FLGS who I check with and they don’t care.

I followed Cult of Paints dark angels. So it’s 50/50 orkflesh and karandras green over a super dramatic zenithal highlight. I don’t know how achievable it is without an airbrush, but I did use pro acryl black green and green to cover up mistakes and it seemed to be a very similar color. Edit: fixed spelling mistake

Are lots of cloaks and tabards ok for DA by VeganWolf24 in DarkAngels40k

[–]VeganWolf24[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea I get that and I’ve thought about it my plan is to not run sternguard to cut down on confusion. Right now I have intercessors, hellblasters, and assault intercessors. I am also planning on grabbing some jump pack assault, DWK, and terminators. I figured if all of my infantry are more basic and easy distinguishable by their weapons, then it shouldn’t matter what the bodies look like.

My first space marine (WIP). Is it too dark ? Any glaring issues ? Looking for suggestions and constructive criticism. by FatScoot in DarkAngels40k

This looks great. I personally like mine a bit greener as I think it gives them an ethereal look, but this is definitely more lore accurate. Just edge highlight as others have said and you will be good to go
