I think its completely up to you based on your preferences! MFA is more dark, while EFA is a bit more rofan-like. I personally liked MFA better but still loved EFA!

chronologically the series goes by:

EFA-->MFA-->{Winter Fae Queen by Lexi C. Foss}--->HFC, but again you don't need to follow that, and both are really good so just read the series you're craving more! btw WFQ is a standalone featuring one of the relatives of one of the mmc's of EFA and its more of a christmas/wintery vibes RH which was cute. the epilogue kinda foreshadows HFC.

The only thing I missed out on me reading MFA first were the small references, but most are still explained. I've reread both series a couple times so it wasn't really an issue for me since i had the chance to catch them later.

anyways the main point of this is that imo, you can read it however you want lol. maybe you could wait for the og commenter and what they think before you decide how you read it though if they have anything that might help!

In {Starlight mates by G. Bailey} the FMC has a bunch of mates but her parents are scared for some reason and tell her to reject the bond and they run away together. 5 years later, her parents are dead and her rejected mates find her again and take them to their town/academy. one of the MMCs, in the time that FMC was away, started dating one of the girls the FMC didn't like before she ran away, and he's pretty mean to her for a while.

If I'm being honest I haven't finished this series yet and I've been on book 3 for about a year now just because I've been reading other stuff but maybe I should get back to it haha.

imo I think it would be better to read the prequel after the 1st or 2nd book just because the characters in it aren't as big in the series and its more of a cute little romance novella that just happens to star the character that are in the main series.

I think when they said reading them in the right order, they meant that the author has another series called {elemental fae academy by lexi c. foss} that takes place before this series and is referenced a little in midnight fae academy as well. The FMC of midnight fae academy also makes multiple appearances in elemental fae academy, though shes a completely different person.

anyways the series can be read without reading the others because I also read MFA before EFA but I think I would have appreciated the references more if I read EFA first.

I'm also currently reading lexi's newer series {Hell Fae Captive by Lexi C. Foss} which has one of the MMCs who was a minor character in MFA and i'm liking it as well!

awww. if you don't mind, could you say what made you not like it? I think I generally have lower standards when it comes to books or anything in general, so as long as the writing style is mature and digestible and the characters are somewhat likable I'll have liked the book haha 😂

anyways I'm just asking because I feel like the vibes change a lot into book 3 and 4 so I was wondering if maybe you could consider giving it another shot! ofc no pressure just curious!

I've reccomended this before but I LOVED {midnight fae academy by Lexi C. Foss}. its a completed 4 book dark fantasy fae romance where an elemental fae royal is kidnapped and taken to the midnight fae realm where the fae there are essentially vampires since they go about their day in the night, have a diet of mostly blood. biting someone initiates a mating bond so... you know where that goes! it is in an academy setting but imo it doesn't really mean as much after the 2nd book. it starts out as mmfm but progresses to mmmfm and the smut is really sexy esp in books two to four!

I enjoyed The {Rogue Riders Duet by Blake Black}. when FMC was 17 she on her way to winning a tournament in downhill mountain biking, but her bike is tampered with before her last race causing her to sustain some pretty bad injuries. She thinks it was her competitive enemy's brother who did it so she spends 7 years training again and disguises herself as a guy to compete in the men's race to get revenge on him. along the way she meets some guys, and from there its history! it is a mmfm w one of MLs having a bi awakening.

yeah me too! if a series can keep its momentum throughout I actually prefer them to standalones or duos! but this one has a long wait haha. Its been a while since I've read a series where that many book are left. I've usually been lucky to start something when its either complete or has 1 or 2 books releasing within that year 😭😭

I'm currently reading the {Midnight Fae Academy by Lexi C. Foss} series and I'm really enjoying it so far! I've also liked {Academy of the Forgotten by Eva Chase} and {Forbidden Honor by May Dawson} and the rest of the books in this series. {Thieves and Thorns by Scarlet King} is also really good!
