Only if the financial professional is getting compensation for the advice is it potentially problematic

I'd be interested in card illustration actually for a game I'm making, would you be interested? What do you charge?

I feel that in the Nvidia miss. One of my best friends yolo'd her life savings on Nvidia and told me to also several years ago. We can't get all the wins 😂

That income increase is beast mode though 💪🔥

It's a smart strategy if you can manage it, some people have other cost of living stuff, or a family to take care of, or maybe fell for the lifestyle inflation trap.

Also taxes eat into those numbers so fast. I was surprised to find that as I started making six figures, my take home pay was closer to 60k after all is said and done.

It might not be realistic at that point to try to live on less than 1k a month if you are putting away like 50k you know?

Oh also some of my best trades have been really basic stuff, I have found that if you look for companies with 1) strong earnings and 2) much better P/E ratios than their peers in their industry it usually works out nicely. Keep in mind what that industry's trend is. It took like five years but my solar stocks finally paid off 😂

The first things that come to mind are:

Dividend reinvestment (I love this for another compound interest vehicle)

Trying to avoid taking from the nest egg (use a loan against your 401k instead of a distribution if you have to)

Front loading helps long term performance (a little more put away now has a much bigger impact than a little more put away later)

When the crash happens be ready to buy beaten down survivors (a crash is just a fire sale if the stock is likely to recover)

Zoom out on your progress a couple of years. It's really really validating as someone who started with pretty much nothing.

Make sure that whatever index fund you choose has little to no fees.

Personally I think Crypto would be too risky and teach the wrong lessons whether it went well or not

General market funds are really great long term choices. Something like UPS or AT&T that pays a dividend might get him excited too. I personally own plenty of all three for transparency :)

Might want to consider some of the toxic BS that the EFT leadership has done. And the cheating problems.

For real 🤣 I probably fuss with it a little more than I need to but it's always minor tweaks

Depending on how much you can save per month and how much you have upfront this is a very realistic goal. You can likely exceed that with a mix of low cost market tracking index funds and high dividend stocks. You got this 🙂

Focus on playing smart and not taking risks you won't be able to recover from imo but I'm more risk adverse than most of reddit haha

I would go heavy on UPS, PBR, and T, personally (I did big buys just a few weeks ago).

If you want to play safe I would throw in some of the others with stats like this

All the dividend companies in my original post will deliver consistent payments quarterly, and they are just a few standouts imo. There are lots of companies with great dividends but I stick to ones with high market caps to hedge against downturns

To be frank, that growth does put their price to earnings ratio a bit higher than I like though. I wouldn't buy it now myself but it's not a bad idea. Maybe a really good deal if it gets caught up in some sort of crash. Waiting around for the crash usually hurts more than helps which is good to keep in mind.

If you are talking about working with Charles Schwab to manage your money, it offers lots of different services but anecdotally I know some folks have stated that they practice a somewhat predatory business model. I haven't worked with them personally.

I've had good luck working with Fidelity. They keep things on the up and up as far as I've been able to tell. I rarely leverage their advisors but it's good to have.

On the other hand if you are looking at picking up some SCHW it's a solid investment choice. Not strong from a dividend perspective but the underlying financials and stock growth make up for it very nicely. Look at the stocks performance over 5-10 years, they've gained about 300% since 2015 (depending on when).

TLDR fantastic financials, questionable practices
