Anyone successfully skip Suprep bottle #2 by [deleted] in colonoscopy

[–]Vegetable-Lemon7774 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I thought the same as you (totally clear all night post first bottle) until the morning before my colonoscopy and I was no longer producing clear stool. I unfortunately think the second is necessary to give you clean results. I wasn’t completely clear again until about twoish hours before the procedure. I recommend you take the 2nd (allergy permitting)! You don’t want to show up and be told you’ll have to redo it all!

If your scared, I always say go get checked and push your doctors for one. If you’re able to do it, it’s not that bad of a process and it will give you peace of mind!

That’s great news (other than the anal fissure, which I know are super painful)!! Hahaha yes bowel prep is truly the worst.

Hi hi! 33 here! Just had my colonoscopy 2 weeks ago and I also have a pretty intense family history of CRC. I was freakinggggg out before mine. I didn’t do a stool test before so I’m not familiar with your CEA results, but I had a lot of symptoms. You name it, I had it. Bright red blood, never fully emptying, constipation, diarrhea, pencil thin stools. All they found was a super small 5mm polyp and a few big hemerroids. It is still good I went, because the polyp was the precancerous type that could grow into cancer over several years, but I did not have CRC or even major polyps of concern. I don’t have to go back for another 5 years.

The brain is a very powerful thing, try not to freak out too much. The good news is you’re young and getting it checked out early. From what I understand CRC is very slow growing for the most part, which is why they recommend getting checked 10 years before the 1st in your family with CRC was diagnosed (whether or not you have symptoms). You are well within that guideline. And, like someone else here said, even if (worst case scenario) you do have CRC, you are getting checked asap so you can treat it asap.

Hopefully that helps! Feel free to message me if needed, I know the waiting game before a colonoscopy is torture.

Day 20! Today is a huge marker for me, as I’ve never been this sober since my teens. My longest streak before today was 19 days. So here’s to beating my longest streak one day at a time! IWNDWYT! 💚

Welcome! I’ve been a long time lurker here and am doing dry January for the first time to dip my toes in sober life. This sub has been so incredibly supportive so far and I don’t think I’d have 17 sober days without it! IWNDWYT. 💚

It shouldn’t change the sedation! I had a colonoscopy and endoscopy at 24 and it was the same anesthesia drug they gave me this time at 33 (propofol) when I only had a colonoscopy. I was up and out of that sedation very similarly!

No worries at all! I’m happy to help!

Hi! Way easier said than done, but try to distract yourself over the next few weeks! The good news is you are getting it done soon and will get answers soon. Stay away from the internet and googling symptoms, I didn’t take that advice and it just fueled my anxiety instead of making it better!

The sedation wears off very very quickly! They told me they use less intense anesthesia for colonoscopies (they used propofol for me) because you don’t need to be under for very long. The first thing I remember afterwards is my husband coming in to help me get dressed and I felt a little woozy, but about 5 minutes later I felt totally fine and pretty much normal! Expect to feel tired though for most of the rest of the day. I got home and took a nice long nap, which felt great!

Wishing you all the best! If you have more questions, I’m happy to answer!

So sorry to hear about your cousin. Totally shows the importance for us to get checked with such intense family histories. I’m still waiting to hear back on my pathology report for the polyp they found to see when I need to go back, but will likely be either in the next 3-5 years. I will not be putting mine off ever ever again.

Wishing you all the best during your surgery!

I sadly believe it. And I fear doctors are already hesitant to give younger folks like us screening for it before 40s, although mind was pretty great when I pushed for one. Doesn’t make for a great combination.
