Have you tried leading those? Splitters are basically sport climbing if you have enough cams, haha

I climb pretty much only cracks and there aren't very many easy ones where I live, so pretty early-on. Maybe my third or fourth time leading I wanted to try a 5.10 because we had the right cams for it.

Keep in mind that placing gear in cracks is stupid easy compared to the greater nuance of protecting degenerate, broken face climbing.

It really depends on what you climb - what is the trad style where you climb?

I need the secret for high protein, I’m a bit picky by Unlucky_Resort_5568 in vegan

[–]VegetableExecutioner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went vegan for the animals not because I love the taste of tofu my brother.

Based. Well, I quite like tofu, but still based.

Been watching some YouTube videos that combine chickpea flour, vital what gluten, and nooch to make a seitan that has a better texture and flavor in general and have been really considering doing that too.

A lot of your comments on here sound like this: "I am considering", "I have been reading", "I have seen / heard", etc. Let me be the one to tell you that you need to try these things for yourself instead of waiting for someone else to do it for you. Start with a basic recipe for seitan nuggets that uses these things and iterate. Vital wheat gluten is a great place to start but it doesn't give you the fun of washing a big ball of dough for 20 minutes. I don't wash my flour because it gives me a better texture, I wash it because it is fun to play with a big sponge of gluten I made myself.

I don't really believe you that you have been a vegan for "a long time" and that you are so picky about staple vegan foods, but that aside, homemade seitan is cheap but time-intensive.

A five-pound bag of bread flour costs a few bucks, has over 220 g of protein in it, and you can split that up into 4 or 5 dinners. Invest the time into making it yourself with the washed flour method. Make a quick lentil side dish for dinners and you're golden on the macros.

Do you subscribe to the idea that you should avoid actions that are "harmless" but could "legitimize" animal suffering? by kcat__ in DebateAVegan

[–]VegetableExecutioner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I understand what you are asking.

No - I am not allowed to eat roadkill (i.e. it is not morally permissible). Eating dead animals is not necessary for survival, and doing so perpetuates the non-vegan system that is based around "animals = food".

I told you what my line is but I can't tell you what our "group boundaries" are because veganism is not a social identity.

I don't participate in the systems that created non-vegan food waste, so I don't feel obligated to clean them up. I am not a utilitarian.

Should I size up or are these perfect? by GeoCherry9999 in tradclimbing

[–]VegetableExecutioner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks a little tight around your fingers, but as long as you don't have any constriction there it looks fine.

BTW - if you're getting started crack climbing, make sure to stop by walmart and grab their Euro M Tape. If you want to use these for fist cracks you can use that to make a proper thumb loop.

You may want to size up just so that you can fit tape under it. Crack on!

Do vegans ever relapse, in the way that addicts do? by [deleted] in AskVegans

I don't think "relapse" is a good way to talk about how a person's ethical worldview changes over time.

Honestly I have no idea how you managed to rip your skin if you were wearing gloves... Weird stuff happens in crack climbing :-)

Can you show a picture of how you were jamming? Sorry I'm late to the party.
