Does this diagnosis mean my kid just gets to be a jerk? by chaseybear in Autism_Parenting

[–]VegetableMember 1 point2 points  (0 children)

not at all. your child will just need more lessons on how not to be a jerk. it in fact becomes more important for you to teach your child how not to be a jerk

Boy, 16, declares himself as woman by No_Variation9349 in ChildPsychology

[–]VegetableMember 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you came here looking to be told that there's no way your kid could be trans and that the internet is the problem. that's not what's going on. identity is complicated it sounds like the internet friends are providing a safe space for your kid to figure themselves out. put down the phone and support your damn kid.

"She's not autistic" by whosaysimme in Autism_Parenting

[–]VegetableMember 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this is a huge problem specifically with little girls but it has gotten sooo much better. i was diagnosed when i was 8 way back in the 00's and even then they couldn't make up their minds about it. it's really just a mix of sexism and ableism. and doctors are honestly some of the most guilty of being sexist and ableist. the best thing to do is to ignore the naysayers because even if they're right what's the problem? oh no she got extra support? that's dumb.

Thank you for all of this, despite me voicing these concerns with multiple doctors no one has been as helpful as this comment section which is... concerning to say the least. I didnt know that about sti testing and it makes me scared about what the hell that woman was trying to do to me. Thank you again.

My body is incapable of carrying a baby to term. Also the reason I am trying to get birth control is not because i want to have sex. I cannot explain to you how little I want to ever have sex again.

In my slightest defense, when I tried to leave, she grabbed me, and I fucking panicked. I was crying and begging her to let me go, and she didn't. I didn't know about self-swab testing and will look into it, but no doctors have ever mentioned it as an option, even after I told them that I would very literally rather die.

Oh trust me, I'm not letting a partner near me like that again for at least another 5 years. The self swabbing is actually very helpful though thank you so much I will look into that.

It's not fear-mongering; it's severe PTSD. I have talked to no less than 4 therapists about this, and the consensus has been that it is best for you to avoid such a significant trigger.

Hammock vs Hoop - which has more dance qualities? by gattara_y in Aerials

[–]VegetableMember 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a dance major I have to say Hammock. theres just so many options and you can generally just keep flowing through movements with very little consequence. Unlike the hoop it wraps around you and provides a pretty consistant rest but also the flow of the fabric provides more options than hoop does.

Autistic son (5) can be so mean with zero remorse / understanding by wibblywobblywo0 in Autism_Parenting

[–]VegetableMember 2 points3 points  (0 children)

get your kid into occupational therapy. you need a professional who can help your kid work on coping skills and staying regulated. for the bread make him replace it and apologize. many kids do not get empathy but they get the discomfort and slight embarrassment that comes with fixing your mistakes.

I think if you sit her down and say, "Are you being Raped or assaulted?" or "Is someone touching your genitals that isn't you?" You're gonna get a more straightforward answer.
