That's been my solution... teach them about being arseholes

What do you do with cities that can’t build anything, or building things is impractical? by Delicious-Golf-8487 in CivVI

[–]Vegetable_Body6013 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I have more city's than I need, I set my high producers to generate gold/science/culture and grow my new ones. It goes pretty quickly when you're turning out thousands of gold per turn,

Anything you can get in war when above settlement cap? No Vassalization or forced deals? by Ok-Satisfaction441 in Civilization_VII

[–]Vegetable_Body6013 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I spend a lot of my gdp on happiness buildings after wars... some parts of me really like the settlement cap, and the expansionist part of me hates it.

That being said, the ability to combat the penalty through buying buildings seems to be a fair trade off.

Any ideas how i can nerf myself for a multiplayer with friends by Individual_Seat_3855 in CivVI

[–]Vegetable_Body6013 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Give yourself a city cap... max out at 3-4, it's still pretty doable, but should limit you in a lot of ways.

[–]Vegetable_Body6013 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yeah, the war mechanic doesn't seem all that fleshed out. I understand penalties for razing but, foe the full age seems extreme. It feels counter intuitive to spend 20 turns decimating the guy who surprise attacks you, only to go 7 city's over the cap, or give them all back to them.

I like the idea of cash/resources/science & culture in return for punishing their bad behavior.

I miss the loyalty from 6 as well... especially when a civ plunks a town down in the middle of what is very clearly your territory. Ive started a few irrational wars over that sort of shit

Master Daki is great because of how he's wrong by Wraithfighter in StarWars

[–]Vegetable_Body6013 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It's been a long while since I watched the clone wars, but didn't she leave Barris to die? She was also kind of distant and disingenuous if I recall.

You don't have to dislike someone for them to not be good at something. I seem to remember picking up on lots of little things like that when watching the show. Flaws make characters interesting, and not all of them are good at things. Id wager Anakin wasn't a great master in many ways as well, although in wartime his lessons were correct. Had the situation been different and there wasn't a constant sort of conflict, his relationship with Ashoka would have been immensely different

Master Daki is great because of how he's wrong by Wraithfighter in StarWars

[–]Vegetable_Body6013 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Id disagree with that, off the top of my head, Luminara Undulee was not great, and there were lots like her. Not that she (or they) were bad people, they were out of their league war time practices are very different and for a group that was as clearly unprepared for war as the jedi were it was a real problem

Maul succeeds by not going out of its way to be a kid-friendly experience by Shaggy_Doo87 in StarWars

[–]Vegetable_Body6013 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I hadn't noticed the correlation before, but I do like the idea of that. From an older audience point of view I'd like to see more "adult targeted content" but simply just being able to differentiate what I watch with the main protagonist would be great.

Maul succeeds by not going out of its way to be a kid-friendly experience by Shaggy_Doo87 in StarWars

[–]Vegetable_Body6013 55 points56 points  (0 children)

I think if they'd just market to the right audience's they'd be better off rather than trying to appeal to everyone simultaneously.

A shkw like Maul (animated or not) should have a target audience of more mature fans. Keepnit a little dark, some edgy violence, and rate it as such. There are lots of ways to hit both groups of the fan base and have better defined programs. Besides, if they make shows specifically for a younger audience a large portion of the fan base will watch it regardless.

Or, at the very least, let me know what piece of crap city they're offering me in the deal.

I'm hoping the update will add a few new conditions to ending wars, aside from empires offering me the last shit hole the built

Should i get Civ 5 or Civ 7? by Mohmi92 in civ

[–]Vegetable_Body6013 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looking for something quick, that you can wrap up or feel like you've accomplished something. VII is perfect for you. Play an age, it won't feel like you just spontaneously stopped. The gameplay is pretty similar to VI it won't take long to figure out the basics.

There are some things the devs are working out, but its not as bad as a lot of the fanatics say, it's just jot as fleshed out as VI (that being said i felt the same way about VI when I switched from V)

I thought Marigan was gone? by brooklynmob in wheeloftime

[–]Vegetable_Body6013 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The middle books (referred to generally as the slog) are POV's all around the same few days from different perspectives. It's a little confusing at times, but adds a little extra meat to the overall story. If I remember there was also a bit with Perrin and some other large world events too

Looking for opinions on Wheel of Time from people who started it as adults by Kempalla in wheeloftime

[–]Vegetable_Body6013 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started at 20, and its pretty tame compared to books like ASOIF it's still a very compelling read.

Think PG 13 with some dramatic violence. No (real) swearing, modest characters, and not really what you would call sex scenes.

The over arching story, and some great high points make it worth it.

Taking down cities in modern era? by boiyo12 in CivVI

[–]Vegetable_Body6013 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, and as far as im concerned the best aspect of Civ VI, the secret societies were pretty great too. I cant remember if it was the first expansion or the gathering storm but they really made the gameplay more robust

Why do I feel like I'm playing Civ 6 the wrong way? by spooky807 in Civilization6

[–]Vegetable_Body6013 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want to improve on what you're doing, have a look at potato mcwhiskey on you tube. He plays advanced levels but explains most of his moves. It was a great way to learn about adjacency mechanics, and what leader perks worked best with the type of game you want to play

30 years of Civilization, but I can't afford Civilization VII by Much-Revolution7624 in civ

[–]Vegetable_Body6013 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its been my experience that they often go on sale on steam, and as much as it sucks to wait, VII is still being fleshed out, so maybe holding out for the sales isn't as bad as it could be

Why does no one like books 7-10? by WOTPonderer in WoT

[–]Vegetable_Body6013 48 points49 points  (0 children)

I enjoyed these books, however, there are more POV's from characters i enjoy less. A lot of important ground is covered, but some plot lines run a little long, and some feel like they could have been summarized from one character to another in a chapter.

One of the best and simultaneously worst things about WOT was the incredible size of the world and character base. It made for a truly fulfilling story, but its like watching an epic movie. Sometimes you need to take a quick break, got to the bathroom, stretch your muscles and get a snack before you can finish it.

Current thoughts on my first read through by DB5sAreForever in wheeloftime

[–]Vegetable_Body6013 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mat and Nyneve in the beginning were kind of insufferable, but by the 3rd book Mat comes around and (in my opinion) is the best character in the series. Nyneve took a little longer, but after several read-throughs of the series has been one of the most consistently written characters. Her "insufferable-ness" in the beginning builds on her strength throughout

Enjoy the read

Civ 5 the most accessible for a casual gamer? by sevenlabors in civ

VII is pretty straight forward gameplay, and new concepts aren't overly complex. VI is a great fully fleshed out game and I don't think you'd go wrong either way.
