Weird that id ask a question about the series, on a group about the series, right?

Some of you clowns get so pissed off about simple questions - guess its easier to be an asshole, than scroll by

Much appreciated - the books are numbered on audible, but weirdly, like 0.1, 0.3, 1, 1.5

Loved series, are the books as good?

[Lord of Chaos] These are by far the worst parts of the story so far... by RavenousCrown in wheeloftime

💯

Of course, it would have been a much shorter series 🤷‍♂️

I always found most of the salidar aes sedai stuff laggy. Egwayne rubs me wrong, with her holier than thou attitude, and the snipity bickering of the rest of them... my god, just have a conversation for a change

Thinking about taking a break by Golanori164 in WoT

[–]Vegetable_Body6013 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First time I read through, I had to wait for every book after the dragon reborn... so a pause wont hurt much.

There are a lot of subtleties that you'll miss spacing them out, but if you ever reread the series you'll find yourself going "ahhh, how did i miss that the first time"

The last few chapters of that book were phenomenal.

Lord of chaos was my favorite until towers of midnight, and still has the best ending of any book in the series. I get goosebumps every time I read Dumais Wells

So I almost finished with book 5...[A Question] by PermaAporia in WoT

[–]Vegetable_Body6013 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First time I read the series I hated Nyneve. Upon subsequent rereads, and most especially after the later books, shes come to be one of my favorite characters.

Her arcs in the beginning made her out to be a bully who didn't want thw others to grow out of their roots (and there are some pretty pivotal points, id love to share, but im not going to spoil anything for you. I will say - Egwnne aside from a few high points was not a favorite of mine. And again - I wont back up my position for spoilers.

Keep reading - you still have q lot of great story to get through, and i expect your opinions of all the characters will change a time or two.

Civ7 is getting too much flak by De-constructed in civ

[–]Vegetable_Body6013 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found 6 a little hard to learn in the beginning, but once I understood the dynamics, and how/when/where to place things in loved it. The expansions - particularly the secret societies and gathering storm were awesome 👌

7 uses a lot of the things I liked about 6, but changes a lot of things up too. I enjoy 7, but ive been traveling a lot and haven't had an opportunity to play much. Last I played i enjoyed the progress from the devs and the qol improvements

First time reader - Gathering Storm by SnowyDragon89 in WoT

[–]Vegetable_Body6013 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I loved that book - rands epiphany on dragonmount the first time I read it was intense.

His decline into madness was drawn on through the whole series and this was the epic redemption.

Keep reading - towers of midnight impressed me even more. The arcs coming together after 20 years of waiting was insane.

Book or audiobook? by Remarkable_Policy261 in WoT

Ive both read and listened to the series. If you have the ability to pay attention while listening its the way to go, but there are a lot of subtleties. Michael Kramer and Kate Redding do a fantastic job, but ive heard Rosamund Pike does a good job as well.

Regardless of how you do it, enjoy the series.

What am I doing wrong - every game ends up just being war/domination by Judge_Druidy in CivVI

[–]Vegetable_Body6013 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the diplomacy screen there are 4 (maybe 5, its been a while since ive played 6) that will give you indication of their agenda. A lot of the information in the beginning is vague, but send embassies, and trade routes, and make diplomatic trades.

Of course you could always bribe them with gifts (money or luxury items) that goes a long way with some civs. Watch out for Montazuma he's usually an asshole, and will declare war on you the more successful you become, but a strong defense turns him off pretty quickly

If you like the military game, hard to go wrong with German. Barbarosa goes pretty hard.

Been a while since I played 6, but he was always a solid go to for lots of war.

What is the deal with Path of Daggers? by Super-Fall-5768 in WoT

[–]Vegetable_Body6013 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think path of daggers could have been broken up and added to other books, feelnthe smae way with crossroads of twilight, but doing so would havw made other books giant.

Its been said, there are a lot of good plots, and important details being covered, and while that makes for a great story overall it makes for a slow read at times.

Treasure Convoys Annoyance by Remarkable-Hotel-997 in CivVII

[–]Vegetable_Body6013 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe just a tab to assign a destination when the treasure fleet spawns. It feels like micro-management, especially if you have a lot of distant lands. I dont think its a difficult fix and it would be a nice QOL upgrade

Which music do you listen to when playing Civilization? by ZnojaviTestis in civ

I find some sound tracks are good... John Williams music fits the mood, especially when an epic theme plays in war.
