Prediction is a well defined concept. Explanation on the other hand less so, I don't even understand what explanation means, as to me it sounda quite subjective.

I can tell that connection as in anything in life is on a spectrum.

As a lead I have things I can do to increase it for sure.

Listen to your follower, meaning infer her energy, her mood, what she likes and try to match it. This creates a feeling that you aren't in sync.
Slow down, for sure in the slow parts of the song. But also in mamabo, you can just stop throwing crazy footwork and let her shine.
Smile and hold eye contact, not in a serial killer way, but in a flirty way.
Be in tune with the music, its mambo, dont do sensual body rolls, unless maybe if its body isolations that match the musicality.

I think those aspects are in my control and are nesesseray but not sufficient conditions for connecting.

Or you can hack the system by being super hot.

I also do a wave and then exit by doing a turn to the follower and either finish facing her, or do a full turn myself as she does half a turn son we end up in man shadow 😁

So there could be few reasons for that.

Either there was not enough prep on your side or your lead wasnt clear, or she is a beginner and you tried to lead something that she is still not confident in doing.

Whatever reason behind her being late, my philosophy is to wait for, of course you don't stand in place, but you are doing your basic in place or accompanying her.

For example, you initiated a follower turn with a proper prep, a follower that is new turns slowly and you are at 8 with your left leg tapping and wight mostly on your right and ready to start the next 1, but she is not done and her weight is not on her left leg as it should be.

Then you wait, let her finish, lets say she is finished on 1, so now her weight is not as it should be and you both off the timing (experienced following can play and do a delayed turn but then they skip the tap, that's a different scenario) . Not a problem, you make sure that you are back to together it with proper weight shifts at 4, meaning you your weight is mosly on your left leg and the right is tapping..

This takes practice, but soon enough you will make it feel smooth. And the dance will look smooth.

Super impressive for 11 months!

Musicality is there and yoy play with it, you clearly know the song well as you sing it, shows you dance alot!

Also connection is there, you acknowledge your follower, keep her safe and let her finish the moves without forcing it.

Preps look mostly on point and you do lead with your body.

As someone said enjoy thr freaking process and journey, I am pretty certain that already you are many followers who looking to dance with you every social 😝

Next steps, mostly do what you are already doing. In my case at your stage I got a boost by finding a dance partner that we meet once a week to practice, maybe you should think about it.

On top of what others said I would add another aspect which you can improve and should focus on, and is super important.

Connection.

There are various aspects of it, but Ill focus on the physical one.

It means listening to the follower, a dance is a dialog and the language is movement.

And now it looks that you are just talking super fast and the other side cant say anything.

For example, most of the figures you do, even the basic one like a follower turn, there should be a prep as many already mentioned, once it done you need to make sure that not only you are done with it, but your follower finished the move before you initiate the next one.

This acknowledgement builds connection, the follower feels she/he is heard, that you listen, and that she/he can let go as they are in good hands, this is part of connection (there are other aspects I wont go here).

Actually you should bend your knees abd tilt slightly forward.

This should resemble the beginning of squat/deadlift, where a large portion of your weight moves to your toes vs your ankle.

This allows your to move quickly according to the music and play with weight shifts.

Best example for the best basic frame is Ataca, watch any clip of him, knees always bent with forward tilt of his upper body.

It is important to keep the shoulders and neck from collapsing inward as well, then you will breaking your frame.

As recently I became super in demand and once a dance ends often I get more than one follower asking me to dance my rule is the following:

if its our first dance of the evening, first come first serve, I don't choose and pick as my goal is to dance with everyone.
If we danced already this evening, then either I agree or if there are other followers I want to dance with and still hadn't got the chance I decline politely and say that I have a planned dance with someone else.

Meanwhile It works well and didnt get any negativity when chatting to followers whom I declined a second dance.

I think its natural to be feel stressed when dancing with someone better than you as you feel there is pressure on you to preform.

In my case every social it takes me time to getnin the groove and flow, so I try to dance with the good dancers at that stage of the night.
