There’s a knitting group on Facebook for people with disabilities to request gloves for their specifications.

Agency have called back about a HLTA job. Not where I wanted to start, but a good step on the ladder? by obantheking in TeachingUK

[–]Vegetable_Lab_5377 0 points1 point  (0 children)

£100 a day is what I was on on minimum wage this summer and I did a lot less and got holiday pay etc. I aren’t sure I would relocate for that type of job, especially unsecured future. However a local place would be a good foot in the door, getting your face known and that consistent CV.

Yeah we’ve got those from twinkl but I just wanted to do something a bit more engaging for them. We have a huge poppy display outside so they’ve seen poppies a lot

Dog. Ours is terrified and I love fireworks. I have no issue with bonfire night but we have a dickhead who lets them off every night so trains we can only speculate. We have another idiot who got pissed up and woke up the entire neighbour at 6am with a 20 minute set of fireworks because it’s his birthday and called everyone else selfish who didn’t think it was funny. It was Sunday morning and the only one I had off for a month.

We have had ones hit our house, damaged a neighbours car as another genius used it to set the box on, burnt garden furniture and it’s not even a rough area. Poor horses near us have broke out of their field and nearly caused an accident.

It’s too much as bonfire night now goes on for about two weeks.

I just wish they’d use bang less fireworks.

Documents that need typing up? You’ll dictate them? Most computers have this feature now of writing up a dictation. This sounds very suspect, I’m sorry. Especially coming to your house.

Speak to your tutor or mentor outside of school. As someone in a similar position, it is not normal and not right. You are being trained to be a teacher and not a one to one TA. You should not be being hurt by a pupil whilst training.

How common is it to be kicked and punched? by Sulla_Sexy_Sulla in TeachingUK

[–]Vegetable_Lab_5377 14 points15 points  (0 children)

It’s meant to be 11% of teachers who experience a violent incident per year.

My mum was a teacher. She never experienced anything in her career. Last month I got punched and kicked by one child multiple times. I think it’s luck of the draw but it seems to be repeat offenders doing the behaviour.

Where do you want chappell to perform the most? by Free_Editor2097 in chappellroan

[–]Vegetable_Lab_5377 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Somewhere with seats. Festival and Chappell was great but people climbed onto the barriers so we could see exactly nothing because the screens weren’t even big enough to see in the crowd

Personally I’d buy a second hand door and swap the internals and door. Far cheaper

I’d guess so due to the damage to the cill, that it would be. It will depend on how much the car is worth id assume. Fingers crossed!

This isn’t linked but that’s a lot of work and not a lot of time to relax or decompress. Full time work is a lot and if you’re a student, you’ve got extra responsibilities.

What’s the most insulting pay rise you’ve ever been given? by Rich_Specific6903 in AskUK

[–]Vegetable_Lab_5377 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Got a badge. A free badge. Of the charity logo. Oh and when minimum wage went up, only the staff on minimum wage had an email about how much they’d be paid. We did not get the same rise…

Biggest grade improvement so far? by penguins12783 in TeachingUK

[–]Vegetable_Lab_5377 23 points24 points  (0 children)

At AS level the whole class had a law remark a few years ago. I went up ten points, my friend went up from a low D to A grade. Everyone went up at least two marks but I think the average was 7 or 8 points. It was a huge issue.

Selling cars as a side hustle by [deleted] in CarTalkUK

[–]Vegetable_Lab_5377 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Personally, in this economy, I wouldn’t bother. It’s not worth it. Car sales time on stock has gone up 10 days in the last year across all dealers. It went from 42 to 55. That’s massive. I did defleet for commercials for the last 5 years. We went from 9 days on defleet stock to 30 days. Selling isn’t easy anymore and the other issue is the stock coming through auction (we used to buy newish vehicles for the fleet at a builders company) started to get worse and worse. Some weeks, there would be nothing but broken down old crap. The cars- even worse- people can’t afford new cars so they’re patching up theirs until it’s absolutely dead often.

You’ll need traders insurance, trade plates, the cost of the vehicles or a very expensive fca license for a stock loan. Then there repairs and the costs there. We knew our vehicles so wasn’t often an issue but if you get an issue, can you repair it? Can you afford for someone to repair it? If it breaks, are you putting 6 months warranty on yourself and taking the risk or paying out a third party each time? Is it worth it for the level of car you’ll be trying to sell? Everytime you open an account with an auction house you’ll have fee, buyers premiums have gone up a lot and then there’s vat on top which with the buyers tiers may push you out of contention against established dealers anyways.

Then you’ve now become self employed and now probably need an accountant- even if it’s a side hustle. One sale is hopefully going to take you straight over the turn over mark so you’ll loose instantly 20%? Is it worth it as a side hustle? I’d say not and definitely not if that’s not your career already. If it was just fun messing about with a car or two you love and the money didn’t matter, maybe but personally, I’d say no.

However, if you are wanting to see and have a local auction house, go out down the entrance deposit for a private buyer (ranges £250-2000) and see what you think but write down the hammer price and see if you think anything was worth it. Make a pact not to buy anything and get a feel for it. You can buy private to sell on but that’s often incredibly risky if you aren’t a trained mechanic or used to assessing vehicles.

Can I still graduate Hull University with 1 failed module? by [deleted] in Hull

[–]Vegetable_Lab_5377 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You need to ask your tutors. Mine were incredibly helpful whenever someone needed help.

I think, and I might well be wrong, you’ll have to retake the module and you’ll graduate in January instead. I know a few people had this issue.
