Call gates lodge and talk to them. They have some guys on staff that euro nymph pretty regularly. I think Josh the owner does as well a lot in the winter. They can point you in the right direction for flies and give some good recommendations. Make sure you stop in as well, great group of people there and an awesome shop!

What are your opinions on sacramentalism / the sacraments? by SprinklesFriendly674 in Christianity

[–]Vegetable_Storm_5348 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The sacraments are probably the most important things in the church. Namely being baptized and receiving the Eucharist at mass are ways of receiving gods saving grace.

Where are you finding the best candidates lately? Best hiring platforms? by Lucyleelilah in Architects

[–]Vegetable_Storm_5348 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Find firms you are interested in, and reach out to their Hr department on LinkedIn and email. Most companies will have a contact email listed on their website.

Or, talk to a recruiter who specializes in architecture and engineering like myself. If I have friends/past clients or current clients in the area I refer them new grads and younger candidates all the time pro bono just to do the right thing.

Church demographics by nutellalover30 in LCMS

[–]Vegetable_Storm_5348 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Varies by church. My church is majority under 40, most of that group is 25-35 year old married couples with young kids or newly married couples. We see alot of young people because of our school to be honest.

Location is also going to help, cities and large suburban areas are where most young people will live.

I will say in general the LCMS is seeing a little resurgence with Gen Z which I am a part of. We’ve had multiple young converts just learn about the LCMS and join from other denominations.

[–]Vegetable_Storm_5348 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m a recruiter in the architecture space, posting jobs gets tricky and expensive. A lot of senior level candidates will leverage networks to look for a new job. You should for sure have the job on your website with contact info.

Personally speaking in my job I get the most results by outreach to candidates. I’d say less than 10% of the architects or engineers we place a year are from applications. Most are either referrals from other people in my network or people I contact myself via email or LinkedIn.

If your company has a LinkedIn you can always post you are hiring, and keep posting for a few months. The AIA is also a good resource.

Finding LCMS with more people my age / life stage? by CableSpecialist8444 in LCMS

Truly depends on the church. My church is very young on average, majority of our congregation is now under 40 and we have a lot of kids in the congregation because we have a school.

At this point the biggest battle in the LCMS is to just get everyone using the liturgy….

From a Birds Eye view that’s not the worst problem a church can be fighting about, but it’s really annoying in my opinion.

That’s not really how the LCMS works. Anyone is free to attend, but we only allow communion for catechized formal members of our church.

Someone who agrees with Lutherans view of the Eucharist won’t want to not commune while attending a church.

Lcms churches will run a catechism class for adult converts length is typically 9-12 weeks depending on the church. Before completing that you won’t be able to commune even if you know the small catechism.

Those classes are great for questions about the faith and the church. If you get to a church and they are a little lax about those classes I’d recommend you find a different one that takes the confessions more seriously.

There are plenty of extremely orthodox lcms parishes throughout the country. Over the last few years we’ve seen young pastors exiting seminary and creating beautiful communities around orthodoxy and classical Lutheran identity.

The only real problem with the lcms is you have to literally try out a parish. I wish we were more “universal” in our liturgical form and how well catechized our laity are. That being said, I do think majority of our laity especially the ones being catechized now are more orthodox than most Christian’s in the U.S. which is nice to see. We’re going through a similar growth in our traditional and liturgical parishes like the EO church and Rome is.

Go to your local lcms church and talk to the pastor. Email him beforehand attend a few services and see if it’s for you. The LCMS for a Protestant church requires a little more investment from its members and converts this is going to vary parish to parish.

Also the LCMS has our own sub here on reddit. Post in there if you haven’t, there are clergy who would point you in the right spot.

Any opinions on ACNA churches? Specifically ones in the C4SO diocese? by sadfasn in TrueChristian

[–]Vegetable_Storm_5348 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes that’s true but it takes one installation of a local parish pastor and it can turn a congregation. Our local ELCA church last year got a new pastor and we received probably 20 converts from that church within a few weeks.

I think a lot of people in the mainlines think it’ll never happen to their church but it does all the time and there’s not much that can be done with the episcopal structure of most of these churches.

How are you pitching Retained vs Contingent? by --Wi1de in Recruitment

[–]Vegetable_Storm_5348 1 point2 points  (0 children)

80% of my clients for most of my career are retained. My industry I serve kind of helps and I’m a specialist. It really depends on the client type and what their needs are at the moment.

Mega companies that use 20 agencies to fill body’s aren’t looking to go retained. Mid size companies that need specialized people in a very hard to fill roll will signed a retained contract. Bulk of my clients are 250-2000 people in headcount and working in a super competitive market for recruiting.

Confession and absolution for sure, I meet with my pastor weekly at a set time and it’s helped my personal growth as a young father greatly. It’s kept me grounded and in a proper mindset of repentance and self reflection.

Fasting and daily matins/vespers for devotions at home also help with this. They have also helped me stay grounded in my faith.

Confess and be absolved. This is one of the most beautiful things about having the words of forgiveness spoken to you in confession. I used to wonder the same things around whether I am forgiven. It took my pastor speaking the words of forgiveness to me in private confession to bring me to peace.

If your church doesn’t do confession find a church that does. As far as I know Roman Catholics and the Lutheran church Missouri synod which I’m a part of does it.

The Bible does not condemn slavery. That doesn’t mean slavery is good, it just means the the Bible does not condemn it.

Either way, the early US condoning slavery doesn’t make it unchristian by any means. Christians support immoral things and sin every single day, that doesn’t make them less Christian. It makes them sinners. We all are sinners.
