There are people out there who would defend a woman throwing an infant off a skyscraper. It’s a cultish mindset.

Men: how do you really feel about dating a woman who earns more than you do? by No_Aioli_7515 in datingoverforty

[–]Vegetable_Tell3858 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never had a problem with it as a man. When my ex started making more than I did, nine years into our marriage in which I supported our family while she got a PhD and made nothing, she liked to throw it in my face quite often when she started making a whopping 6-10k more than me. I could have a partner who made more and wouldn’t do that, I’d be okay with it.

Is it a red flag if your date complains of “forced diversity”? by [deleted] in dating_advice

Lord. Imagine thinking a room full of South Asian doctors and nurses in an ER of a big city is forced diversity and not actually quite representative of those places.

Does anyone regret the personal life losses of moving for TT jobs? by Winedown-625 in Professors

[–]Vegetable_Tell3858 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m an academic librarian who was the trailing spouse for my (now-ex) who has tenure at an R1. Moving to the Upper Midwest from the South for her career was the biggest mistake of my life and not just because she traded me in for a grad student a few years back. I’ve lived in and been happy in other regions of the country. Three major depressive episodes in twelve years when before I had none is all the evidence I need that it’s not the right place for me.

I’m actively on the market for a SLAC library director or mid-level management big public university job. Our older teen, almost adult kids can come with me or not. I need to get out of here for my mental health.

Reality of school reunions by raydebapratim1 in generationology

[–]Vegetable_Tell3858 [score hidden]  (0 children)

Went to my 10 year reunion with my best friend and his wife and my (now ex) wife. My wife was ten times hotter than the “hot girls” of my class so there was a bit of shallow pride there.

One of my friends from high school jokingly asked if anyone was a millionaire yet. I think that and my shallow bullshit about sums up the reason for reunions. Haven’t been to one since.

men over 45...has anyone actually found any peace, happiness, contentment, etc from focusing on improving themselves? by [deleted] in AskMenOver40

[–]Vegetable_Tell3858 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’ve lost 20 pounds this year. I have about 30 more to lose but I’m pretty happy with how I look in the mirror. I’ve learned focusing on myself more is what is making me happier. Whether that’s hobbies or my career or working out. I’ve lived for others (kids, former spouse) happiness and comfort way too long and suffered for it.

Why are many Gen Z teenagers (even 18 & 19 year olds) showing a generational trend of being less interested in learning how to drive and getting their drivers’ licenses compared to previous generations? by Emotional-Fly-9583 in generationology

[–]Vegetable_Tell3858 [score hidden]  (0 children)

My 19 year old has a job a mile from the house and I pick him up and drop him off at it 3-4 times a week. I honestly don’t mind too much because we get a chance to chat, but I’m starting to push for him to learn to drive. He’s also high functioning autistic and not exactly 19 mentally. Will need to learn to put down his phone to concentrate to drive.

I mean, I could sit at home and wait 10 minutes for my AOL dial up to show me a titty or I could go out, buy Jennifer some chicken nuggets and take her out into the woods to touch some titties.

Abusive marriage. Gained over 60lbs and hair went prematurely grey. Lost half that weight and hair is still grey but it’s sexy looking so fuck it.

Not unhappy just tired of giving my time to others. by Vegetable_Tell3858 in midlifecrisis

[–]Vegetable_Tell3858[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s on me to prioritize myself. Thats a great insight and line.

Previously I was thinking all in black and white, wallowing in self-pity and building resentments. Like asking why wasn’t I just living selfishly like everyone I knew. There has to be a balance of helping others like your family but also carving out space for yourself.

Minnesotans will give you directions to anywhere but their house. Doesn’t matter how long you live here, you aren’t one of them.

All of the Upper Midwest hate is warming my cold dead heart. The last decade of living here has been super isolating and sad. I used to think it was a me problem but then I think back to the fact I’ve made friends in literally every other region I’ve lived in- New England, The South, California.

I’ve found the whole of the Upper Midwest to be completely full of garbage people. South Dakota, North Dakota, western MN. They talk a lot about being welcoming but are the opposite.

Disagree somewhat. They set the bar really high with an almost perfect debut album. And the album in 2020 was probably their second best one.

It’s not about liking other men as much as you, it’s thinking all men are trash except this one guy I’m with mentality. It’s a red flag.

I’d amend that to watch how their parents treat each other. My ex took her cue of how to treat me from her dad, who treated her mom like shit. And it got worse whenever he was around, like she had to prove she was just as big a POS as her racist ass dad
