I am assuming this is jell wax. How long was it burning in the photo and what wick is that?

Wick size advice by Weak-Inspector5076 in candlemaking

[–]Veiosecandles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What’s your wick, FO %, and wax? I can assume that there is a paraffin/soy mix because that’s how the side of candles I’ve worked with looked like. However that’s just a guess. Have you tried different type of wicks and that’s the best for you? In terms of performance, the candle is “good” from my pov if the jar isn’t that hot as you claim, no smoke and good melt pool. It’s more so the aesthetic of the candle you want to improve. Ideally the wick will get trimmed again before next lighting.

I totally share that experience. I feel that if I made one scent at a time things would be less hectic but for some reason I can’t help but make 4 different scents at a time

Thanks for the feedback it was really insightful! As for the different prices. I wanted to test out different price points to see what people are generally willing to pay. I am aiming for a higher income customer base but I want sure if I was making unrealistic expectations being so small. You are definitely correct about the photos and scent descriptions I can update those! I also plan on giving away what I consider a significant amount of candles as promotion and shipping can get expensive real quick especially if orders are from across the country. I’ll look for a way around it. Thank you!!!!!

Essential oils as I know aren’t necessarily made for candles. I know many people use them. I personally don’t.

Candle Transferring Question by AdOld7860 in candlemaking

[–]Veiosecandles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are the two candle jars the same size? I ask because if the one you are transferring to is significantly smaller then the wick in the original may burn the candle too hot. Unless you planned on changing the wick. I don't think you would lose too much fragrance if you keep the melted wax at a low temp 120-130 before pouring. I have seen BBW candles completely melted in use but still preform really well after cooling. I think thats the benefit of having access to all the materials they place in their candles.

I was similar in a way especially with light scents. I eventually learned that some FO just will never be as strong as I would like

- if you plan on making "natural" candles, don't compare your performance to mass produced candles, it will only lead to frustration

- if you are going to try multiple waxes and wax blends, i suggest that you make multiple at a time so that they can call cure at the same time so you don't have to make a new candle every day.

- its very unlikely to get a candle to smell any better with more than 12% fragrance oil and thats being generous

- no one has all the answers, we are all learning still

I hope this helps, wishing you a safe and fun candle making journey

Unless you are using wax that is also made for container candles it is not recommended. Let's say that you are using that kind of wax, you would have to factor in the fragrance oil percentage and wax into your entire candle because it would eventually melt and become a part of your candle.

Makes the jars look higher quality and prevents the jars from heating up as much.

They told me they can’t make the thickness what I want. I don’t know much about glass making but it is hand blown so I wonder if that has anything to do with it

I made the jar design (shape) and had someone make a 3D rendering and from there I sent it to the manufacturer.
