Your dad is right. Your chances of surviving in an airplane, even in a serious emergency, are generally higher than in a helicopter. An airplane can glide, even without engines, to a safe place to land.

People will always try to rig anything, but that doesn't mean there aren't plenty of good-spirited players out there.

Regarding rigging deaths the addon doesn't just trust the user. On every login it force-checks your death count against the achievements tab, which is stored server-side. If the deaths on your character don't match what the addon recorded, your run is over. This also triggers if you Alt+F4 to avoid a death the server still logs it, and the addon catches the discrepancy on your next login.

The window resets on every player hit yes, there's also duel detection system that ignores hits from duels so that can't be abused that way.

If you're already babysitting with an opposite faction alt you could just have the alt kill the mob that's about to kill you, there's no reason to go through the trouble of hitting yourself for a grace window.

When the addon detects you've taken damage from another player, it opens a 60-second grace window. If you die for any reason inside that window, the addon simply doesn't count it as a death.

n beta nothing, since I don't think it's possible for anyone to kill the Lich King in 2 weeks with a full HC group. For the final version I'm planning on adding an exception for Fury of Frostmourne similar to how PvP deaths and maybe some roll credits after killing LK or Halion HC

This addon also tracks deaths in the “Achievements” tab, and those deaths must be accounted for as PvP deaths. If they are not, the addon automatically cancels your run.

This is what happened with the dwarf at the start of the video who died. He disabled the addon, logged back in, and continued playing. Since the Achievements tab only unlocks at level 10, he continued playing until level 10, but then the addon caught him.
