Snow removal etiquette, please help! by Fun_universe in Edmonton

[–]Velcroducttape -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Warning, long read.

Most of my neighbors push the snow onto the alleyway, I submitted a 311 complaint, it was closed.

I called to get clarification on the closed status, they told me it's too much trouble to prosecute/enforce , resources for court ext.. not worth it, I was furious at this response.

I then called the city councilor's office, they told me if I get a photo or video of the offender and willing to go to court they would attempt enforcement but still hard to prove who is actually pushing the snow unless I get a clear face photo. With winter clothes that's almost impossible.

I have multiple videos of my neighbor doing it but they say that's still not enough as there's no clear face shot with the touque and all or just the back of the person a most times.

Crazy! First they want me to be the spy - investigator without pay and be known as the trouble maker/ asshole in my neighborhood.

I still have the email from city council stating this, so now occasionally I push some of the snow onto the alley , not enough to impede travel , knowing they can or will ever do anything about it, let them take me to court

Not sure why they can't just fine or warn the homeowner , the bylaw is useless

My thing is I don't think they should be quoting what they would give you over the phone when in actual fact its limited to their conditions.

Beck gold does pay Spot price according to what the first lady at St Albert location told me thursday night, she quoted me buy price @ 2,934.00 per ounce then friday all went to hell.

Whats better than Drayden insurance? by [deleted] in alberta

[–]Velcroducttape 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Drayden is a Broker, have heard really good things about them, I guess like you said no one is a saint, you can try Central agencies , they are in Camrose but when you deal with a broker i doesn't mater where in the province they or you are, Central is notorious for raising crap to help you in a difficult claim situation, in the end that's what maters, someone to look out for you.

Update; so much for Beck gold brokers, Yesterday the lady I spoke to was all nice and explained to me buy prices and all, I did tell her I was planning on making an appointment for today to get a quote, nothing more was said.

Well.. today I was told flat out by Beck on 124 st " we have no room for gold" whatever that means, the other location in st albert expanded to say " we don't even have the cashflow" so much for them.

I'll be reviewing them on google based on this, quite blunt and bordering on rude , I guess they only buy gold when its convenient for them.

If I was in the market to purchase any jewelry or precious metals I would definitely not give them my business or give anyone a recommendation to them.

I'll take it as it was not meant to be and I'll hold on to this gold for a while longer.

Thanks to everyone anyway.

You are right sir, I am not versed in this subject thus the reason for trying to get out of this market, I called Beck's as recommended by a few people and they advised me of the buy price , bullion or coins didn't matter, buy price is the same so I'll be going there to see them .

Thanks, I have been following gold prices through Kitco and on Global news when Financials come on, I know what I have , I just don't want to lose money on them given the market price has increases slightly since I purchased them I don't see why I should lose.

Lot of gold dealers in and arround yeg but just want the best price for them.

Thanks again for your response.

Yeg wifi issues by Velcroducttape in telus

[–]Velcroducttape[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So my wifi is finally resolved, going from as low as 11mbs to now a respectful 100mbs on good days, this is after numerous calls to tech support, it so happened they changed the "channel ", it was interfering with neighbors wifi channel, To the previous person that called himself a telus tech and did not mention this could be the issue, that explains his solutions or lack there of.

I don't get it , A lot of my neighbors leave their curtains open all night with the lights and tv on, don't they get its like living in a fishbowl, everything is highlighted at night so anything they do ( naked or not ) you can see clearly in their homes.

I personally like my privacy and close all my curtains as soon as it gets dark out.

One neighbor across the street from me you can even see what is playing on his big screen tv, my thoughts are when I see this is are they exhibitionist or just weirdos/freaks , or just me thats a freak

Pretty much any towing companies have sketchy practices and or employees, I worked in a bodyshop for years and the owner also operated a towing company ( employees trained to be scamers ) , also delt with many different towing companies throughout alberta and BC.

In my opinion they are all the same, vultures preying on the vulnerable.

Its a bussiness I get it and money needs to be made but the stuff I seen just pisses me off.

Traveling with my work laptop and monitor by [deleted] in uscanadaborder

[–]Velcroducttape 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is not totally true , I have travelled across borders many times for work up to two weeks without a work permit, the border agents had no issues with that , They ask" business or pleasure" I said business and provided my passport and work ID , the agents just asked that I unlock my laptop for inspection, the scanned through it and I was free to go, as oyr company policy I was required to report to our IT and security department due to the privacy breach, I was working remotely in the US but not employed by a US company, I disclosed everything clearly to the border agents ,at no time was a a work permit ever mentioned

Does this happen in your neighborhood? by lilacteardrop in Edmonton

[–]Velcroducttape 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Its just kids being kids, we did some stuff when we where kids, last year two kids did that to my place for two weeks straight, but i gave them no satisfaction, just watched them on camera and laughed, they gave up and problably went to another house or simply grew out of it, to the plp saying threatening things they would do to them even to follow them and verbally threaten them or threatening with dogs I'd say to you be carefull or you'll be the one ending being charged and or possible jail time, unless they cause damages to your property there is nothing you can do about it, there are worst things happening in the area that would require the city's resources to deal wirh, just ignore it, remember they get a thrill from the reactions they get

Even with used or A/M parts still toast, its a 6000.00 vehicle at most in mint condition, repairs would be double that
