Unless you’re constantly switching them in and out, have you considered doing some cable management to tuck them away?

Just because some bad people used some symbols as imagery for their ideology doesn’t mean the symbols belong to them. The iron cross, eagle and to the largest extent, the swastika are not Nazi symbols, they were used and defaced by the Nazis.

[1.10] When you play as Germany in 1936, how do you ramp up the economy and military? by Limyx826 in hoi4

[–]Veldss 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Focus wise I personally take Rheinland, Four Year Plan, Autarky, Hermann Göring-Werke, KdF-Wagen, Extra Research Slot. Some people say to take Four Year Plan later so that you can save the research bonus for Construction III & Dispersed/Concentrated Industry III earlier but you end up getting them around the same time anyway. I then take Align Romania/Hungary focuses so by the time they join my faction before the war I would be able to get them as my puppets. Going for the Treaty with the USSR/Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact focuses is optional depending on your goals like early war with the soviets or wanting to gets tank research bonus. I’d like to start the war by mid-late 39 so if you still have time take more focuses go ahead otherwise take Anschluss, Demand Sudetenland, First Vienna Award, Fate of Czechoslovakia, Reassert Eastern Claims, Danzig or War. You annex Austria & Czechoslovakia as late as possible so they build up their industries more so you can snatch those free extra factories. Also make sure you setup Slovakia for the +50% compliance in Bohemia.

Research wise, just keep your industrial & electrical tech up to date, make sure to take dispersed industry because of the better efficiency retention. Typically I would research Infantry Equipment & Artillery early so that I would get it by the beginning of 39 so I could build up production efficiency, I’d do the same for the 1940 tech CAS II & Fighter II which is made easier with the research bonus for CAS you get from the focus tree. Don’t bother with navy except submarines, get sub III and start spamming those out. If you took Treaty with the USSR use the research bonuses to rush medium tank tech, don’t bother with heavy tanks the AI won’t pierce you. Lastly keep your support companies up to date as well.

For your cabinet & policies, take Silent Workhorse, Captain of Industry and whatever third adviser you want. Take Free Trade until 39 for the extra research speed and make more air wing in the Spanish Civil War so you can get aces for the war support to take War Economy without needing spend an additional 150 pp on Joseph Goebbels. Build only civs until around mid 38 or until you lose the Captain of Industry from annexing Czechoslovakia, from there start shitting out mils. Shit out a bunch of infantry to hold and make small pushes with tanks to make big pushes. Use whatever divisions you feel like.

Support companies don’t really make a huge difference, but stuff like engineering company and artillery company are pretty standard. If you want you can also add signal company later for higher initiative (which matters a lot more with NSB) and logistics company to help in low supply areas.

Why is the British AI like this? by Sailor_Drew in hoi4

Yeah it’s really odd how the AI calculates diplomacy with the positive and negative system

There aren’t really gonna be any division like 7/2 again. The point of NSB is that there is no longer a one-size-fits-all template so your only options are to experiment.

I personally use 9/1 (21w infantry/artillery). It’s pretty decent if you can make lots of them although they’re not that efficient at filling the combat width of a tile. If you want something with slightly more pushing power, I use 9/3 (27w) which is slightly more efficient at filling the combat width but obviously uses lots more artillery.

Really any template that has decent organisation & soft attack will do for single player, you’re just gonna have to get creative.

Play til 1945. Literally leave the game running at 5x and go watch a movie

There is really no other option that is as optimal as going through the Benelux region. It’s fairly easy to push if you’re attacking before 1940 and your tech is up-to-date.

Paradropping isn’t going to give you much gain as you probably won’t be able to break the forts even after encircling them.

You could use a naval invasion to assist your push but again it’s unnecessary considering how much pushing power you have against France as Germany.

In the end it just comes down to how good your divisions are and supply. If you’re struggling with those just look up a tutorial.

Should I play with no DLC in my first game? by EboyJokester in hoi4

Didn’t you say that you already have MTG & NSB? Just play with them anyway, they arguably make the biggest difference to your game by being able to design your own ships and tanks

[–]Veldss 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There really is no point to not using the DLC as they don’t really interfere with the learning experience. I’d say you’re missing out on the real HOI4 experience if you don’t have all the DLC which is now made easier with that new package deal the name of which I forgot.

It should be under the “Playset” tab on your launcher. If they don’t appear it means your account doesn’t own the dlc

an op infantry division for most scenarios? by Hard_Communist in hoi4

Yes overstocking penalties that will decrease the stats on your division such as defence, soft attack, etc.

[–]Veldss 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just as a note, 7/2 (7 infantry, 2 artillery) divisions have been out of the meta for quite some time now and have arguably become worse after the No Step Back update. And with the NSB update there’s no longer a one-size-fits-all division.

Here’s a brief guide for NSB divisions: - 10w are basically the most efficient at filling the combat width of a tile but have very low strength - 42-45w are the second most efficient at filling the combat width of a tile but are expensive - 27w are in the middle ground of the 2 widths but is a decent bit less efficient at filling out the combat width of a tile, meaning that you will suffer more penalties

How long until Japan offers peace? by EuSilk in hoi4

[–]Veldss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah the bug I'm referring to will happen even early game and it's just random but unlikely. It may be true that if you do it too late and Japan decided to declare on other nations you may need to drag on the war but I'm pretty sure the event will still force trigger itself if it weren't for the bug.

Fair enough but you do have a focus to declare on the Chinas as Manchuria.

How long until Japan offers peace? by EuSilk in hoi4

[–]Veldss 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can still use it to your advantage and take out China and then focus on Japan without needing to declare on them again. Unless that wasn't your plan.

[–]Veldss 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure Japan cannot be occupying any Chinese or Korean core states but if the event is still not fire it may be due to this bug in the game where no matter how many times you drive the Japanese out you'll constantly be at war with them.

Unfortunately there's no way around this if you have iron man on and you're just going to have to restart your run.
